We all met up at Mr. C.’s office and headed out to the woods again. He didn’t look as good today, but he was still in his cheery ways. We stood in a circle again with Dan beside me and Avery on the other side of me.
“Alright, today is going to be focusing our energy on other things. Since you guys have powers you can do a lot more then the regular human. You can run, see, hear, even taste better then humans. Avery has already accomplished these things so she’ll be the example for now.” he said and motioned for Avery to step forward. “Now, I’m going to try and hit you, you move as fast as you can and don’t be afraid of hitting me back, I can move fast enough. I doubt you’d be able to anyway.” he smirked and Avery did to.
That was a bad move. She’s always been outshone by everyone else. She was always the second choice because a lot of people didn’t know her, but they knew me. But she hid that well, and just waited until he threw his first punch which she easily avoided and punched him in the ribs.
He let out a breath of air and spun around with super human speed. “What’ve they been teaching you in that school?” he asks, still catching his breath from her punch.
“Oh, nothing much. Just how to fend for yourself.” she said and blocked another one of his hits and aimed for his rib this time. “You want to stop? You’re getting a little beat up and you’re old at rocks.” she said and he nodded.
“As… you can… see, Avery can… hit really hard.” he said between panting for breath. “God, you knocked the wind out of me.” he said and held the side of his ribs that’ll probably have a big bruise on tomorrow. “Alright, everyone pair up in twos.”
Dan and I instantly paired up followed by Laura and Chris, then Victor and Hector clearly paired up. This left Alec and Avery left, who glared at each other. He sighed and they paired up, but neither of them seemed happy about it yet they seemed eager to try and get at each other’s throats.
“Alright, I want one of you to run, and the other to chase. Go as fast as you can and don’t think about it, only think about staying in the field and, of course, not running into trees and tripping over rocks and whatnot. Figure out who’s going to run and how’s going to chase. On your mark, get set, go!” he yelled and all hell broke loose.
It was a lot easier to run with superhuman strength a lot easier then I would’ve thought. I instantly got it but Dan was just as fast and tackled me to the ground, but I wasn’t complaining about that anytime soon. We switched and I chased after him but when I caught up to him I turned him around and crashed my lips on his for a second before running away with a head-start.
“Alright! If you’ve been caught at least three times you can stop.” Mr. C. yells and me and Dan stop at the edge of the field along with every other pair except for Alec and Avery.
Alec lunged forward but Avery moved just in time and he fell on the ground, his mouth full of dirt. He made a noise of frustration and spit out the dirt and stood up and looked around for her. The only problem is, Avery was moving so fast that no one could see her, but we could hear her laughter.
She stopped right behind him and poked him on the back and he spun around. He didn’t even hesitate before he lunged and she moved out of the way but before he could fall for most likely the tenth time she caught him by the collar and put him upright. That was really nice of her.
She sighed and stopped running so he couldn’t see her. “Alright, I’ll let you catch me. But just once because if I didn’t there’s no way you ever could.” she said and held out her arm.
Alec looked down at it and a mischievous look came to his eyes. He took it with both hands and in an instant he flipped her over on her back and she slammed hard on the muddy ground. “Thanks, that’s really nice of you.” he said and started to walk away.
