It was first light in the kingdom, and Luca was wondering about, he sighed as he approached a small home- this was his last stop. He knocked on the door and then remembered his conversation with Seth, it took place exactly two weeks ago…
***
Luca had been woken from his sleep at 2am. Seth was at his door. Luca rubbed his eyes, and glanced at Seth, “Dude…just…dude” he said before hugging him.
“I need your help, Luca” Seth said after a moment.
“Yeah, of course. What’s up?”
“Before I tell you, I need you to swear you won’t tell anyone anything about it. Not my father or sister, not Renay or Cole, no one.”
Luca noted his grim expression, “Yeah, whatever you need…”
Seth nodded and stepped in, “Your healing capabilities can tell what’s wrong with someone in order to heal them, right?”
Luca nodded, “Are you hurt…from…you know?”
“Not the way you think,” Seth sat down and faced him, “I need you to check me. I think it’s my head…it feels muddled- it’s anything but clear, but I need it clear.”
Luca frowned and nodded, “Alright, I’ll check- but it sounds serious, Seth. What are you going to do about it?”
“Well, knowing what’s wrong is the first step to getting it better, right.” He smiled at Luca faintly, “Whatever it is, I’ll handle it, and you’ll keep to your word.”
Luca sighed and stepped forward, “What did I just sign up for…” He raised both his hands and placed them on the temples on either side of Seth’s head, “Try to relax, and not to think about anything for a moment, if you can.” His hands began to glow, a faint yellowish gold, a few moments passed, and the light turned into more prominent and brighter light, he frowned and concentrated, his frown deepened. and he let go, his hands loosing the light.
Seth opened his eyes and looked at him, “How bad is it?”
“I don’t know how to tell you this, Seth…. It isn’t your mind that’s broken, I checked everything.” Luca ruffled his hair and then tucked it behind his ears, “It’s your soul, it’s like it’s been mauled or something.”
Seth nodded slowly, processing Luca’s words.
“It isn’t whole, it’s shredded with bits missing…That isn’t right, dude.”
Seth chuckled, “Under normal circumstances it wouldn’t be- but atleast we now know the downside to a successful equilibrium.”
Luca’s eyes widened, “One equilibrium did that? Is that why Queen Alexandria didn’t make it?”
“I think so, whoever she was trying to save must have had too much darkness for her to overpower, maybe she just didn’t have enough strength to carry it out and survive the process.”
Luca nodded and watched Seth walk over to a table and write something down on a piece of paper. He handed it to Luca, “I’m going to be gone for a bit, can you do me another favour and check on the people I’ve mentioned on this list. Just make sure they’re acting like themselves.”
Luca looked at the names, “Acting like themselves?”
“It’s going to be much of a secret soon, but darkness has started swapping realms. The good news is that it seems only the darker ones can swap realms, so we’ve got some time to address the matter, the even better news is that from the time I’ve been back, those four people have been the only corrupted in our realm, but I’ve taken care of that. My father doesn’t need to know that I’ve screened everyone, I’d rather they all be on high alert so that security protocols will be put in place and our realm will stay safe.”
