“I don’t think your parents are too happy with us being here…” Zoe said whilst adjusting herself to sit upright on the bed

Kareena shrugged, “Probably not, but if anything were to happen to you guys, I wouldn’t forgive myself.”

“So, the doctor said that we need to remain in observation for a few days. Is that common for any visitor?” Mark asked.

“Not really…it’s just because you guys are from Earth, so the transition to here might mess you up a bit.”

“Still have to get used to the idea of there even being a ‘here’, Zoe has been catching me up, but I swear every word out of her mouth baffles me more.”

Kareena chuckled, “We are all in the same boat I’m afraid.”

“Mark told me what happened, are you okay?” Zoe asked.

“Hard to think that I didn’t even know that Mr Grey wasn’t…himself. Maybe I would have if I worked harder to learn everything, but it just feels too overwhelming.”

Zoe nodded, “Have to atleast try though, right?”

Kareena nodded, “Sorry about all of this though.”

Zoe placed a hand on Kareena’s, “Don’t be. No matter what, you won’t ever go through anything alone.”

“Besides, I think this is the most adventure Zoe and I have had, in ever…” Mark laughed.

Kareena joined in but secretly hoped she didn’t make a mistake in bringing them here. Exposing them to her new life, to herself.

An Elite walked into the infirmary and bowed to Kareena, “Your highness, your presence has been requested in your majesties chambers.”

“Are you in trouble?” Zoe asked.

Kareena shrugged, “I’ll be back soon. Rest, okay?”

Zoe and Mark nodded as Kareena followed the Elite away. She was thankful for having someone lead her around, despite sometimes feeling familiar with the place, she thought the safest way to get by was with someone else. The sound of a screech disturbed the silence as she walked to her parent’s room, Apollo circled above her until she extended her arm out for him to perch.

“Hey there, don’t suppose you know whether I’m in trouble or not, do you?”

Apollo tilted his head and Kareena couldn’t understand what he meant. But soon enough she was outside her parent’s room, she heard sniffles and instantly panicked before rushing in.

Maleah was seated on the edge of the bed with Queen Charlotte holding her. King Christians fists were clenched so tight that his knuckled turned white.

“Is, everything okay?” Kareena asked whilst rushing to Maleah.

“Mom and dad…they’ve been…” Maleah choked out and burst into fresh tears.

“No, no, hush now…” Queen Charlotte tried to sooth her.

“I did not have his son pardoned…for this!” King Christian raged before facing Kareena, he placed a hand on her shoulder and squeezed lightly, his eyes were pained as though he struggled to say whatever was on his mind, he lowered his hand and left the ladies alone.

No one else seemed to speak after that.

“Someone please tell me what’s going on…” Kareena urged.

Apollo flew to the nearby table and snatched a parchment that seemed wet from teardrops, he dropped it in Kareena’s hand and waited.

Kareena’s hands shook opening the parchment, she read it in silence before collapsing at her sister’s feet. Maleah took her in her arms, and they cried together, while Queen Charlotte did her best to soothe them.
