Queen Margaret led a few people down an underground tunnel system in order to enter the forge- she glanced back every now and again to make sure no one was behind them. The walls were lined with torches, and thankfully they all remained on, meaning the threat wasn’t near, atleast for the time being.  The air was icy cold, and she knew that they didn’t have much time before darkness covered every bit of their kingdom. She wasn’t even sure how it spread this quickly, but she was certain that they’d receive no help from any other Kingdom. She looked around, there were a lot of people here, but it wasn’t everyone. Her people were still out there, and each trip was getting harder and harder. She was thankful for their forge- this was their last source of heat in the entire Kingdom.

“I wish Chris were here…” Zac said.

Rachel nodded in sadness, a few of the civilians who did hear seemed to share the sentiment.

Queen Margaret frowned and thought to herself, “That must be it…the new general, it was someone she didn’t know, it must have been someone from Dark realm… it didn’t take long for them to carry out the execution of the Summers under Michaels orders. Whoever this general was, they had the ability to swap from Sun to Earth and then back, which worried her, she had never heard of them travelling to Earth before.”

The torches at the end of the hall started to flicker and she cursed under her breath, she jinxed their luck.

The powerful light from the Sun could not be seen through the chimneys or windows, so it was hard to say whether it was day or night, but thankfully the forge seemed to keep them all warm and light up the area well enough for them.

“Are all possible entry points accounted for?” Queen Margaret asked.

Two guards nodded.

Queen Margaret grabbed a shovel and sat against a heavy table, facing the only entry way exposed. She wasn’t sure how long she slept for, it felt like she merely blinked, but when Rachel slowly rubbed her hand to wake, she was startled and realised that a few hours must have passed. Some of the civilians were asleep, while a few soldiers stood ahead of the entry way. Zac seemed uneasy whilst standing ahead of the civilians. Queen Margaret picked up her shovel once more and stood with her guards.

All torches went off, rather dramatically. They couldn’t see anything ahead of them but dared not move away from their only source of light behind them. Zac conjured a shimmering fireball and sent it forward. It travelled a bit, illuminating bits of the walls before being consumed into the darkness. Zac panted, “I’ll try again.”

“No, child. Do not waste your energy. Whatever is out there waiting for us will have to come to us. We won’t make another move. Seal the door!”

Two guards went to seal them when an orb of ice-cold darkness hit one of them, he began convulsing on the floor before he died. The other guard did his best to seal the door but only got it halfway before he felt some resistance, two more guards went forward to help and pushed the door closed but struggled to seal it as a force resisted from the other side. The doors flew back open, as did the guards. There was a slight shimmer of movement in the darkness, but a roaring ball of fire sent it back, it travelled down the corridor, incinerating a few shapes hiding in the shadows. Everyone turned to face the source of the fire and were in awe to see their Prince, his hair flew back from the heat and his eyes seemed to only see fire in them, his companion Leo roared and sent a line of fire down the corridor, Liam on cue, extended his hands as though he were controlling an invisible force between them, he waited a moment before clapping them together, this motion seemed to split Leo’s line of fire into enough balls to relight all the torches at once.

More guards rushed forward and realigned the door, Liam placed his hand on the hinges of the door, an intense heat emitted from it, welding the door to the hinges once more. He turned back to his mother and smiled, “Hey, mom…”
