Becoming his (Bucky x yn x Steve)

30. Reunion at War

Five years. Five years was enough for a lot of things to happen. Yn knows that all too well. It only took her 5 years of training to be sent on her first ever mission. She quickly looked around her again to see that the lab was almost the same as it was before she had left, apart from all the chaos had been cleaned up. The world seemed peaceful, there was no clashings of weapons or any other sounds of artillery. She walked towards the windows and looked down below, watching the soldiers recover from what their confusion and pointing fingers at each other in confusion.

"Five years..." she muttered to herself. "Who else disappeared?"

"Half of all people." Okoye replied, placing a hand on yn's shoulder. "We watched you, sergent Barnes, Wanda, Vision, our king and our princess descend into ashes, as did many more."

"Bucky?" Yn asked as she turned around, looking at Bucky with her head tilted gently, sending a rush of weakness through Bucky's entire body. "You were gone too? Where did you go to?"

"Sunset." Bucky replied gently after giving yn a hug. "Next to the beach, it was very pretty. But it was definitely not five years."

The two of them were about to strike a conversation, but in front of them an orange and sparkling portal was opened, Stephen stepping out of portal. "Come on there's no time. Thanos is here we need you all to come."

Meanwhile, Steve climbed up the small hill, dust and ashes covering his body. A trail of blood dripped down the corner of his lips as he watched Thanos' army hopelessly. He was the only one left here who wasn't down, but that wasn't about to stop him. He'll fight them alone if he has to but as long as life is still flowing through his veins, he will not fall apart. "I can do this all day." He whispered to himself. "What else do I have to lose now."

"Erm, actually." A crystal clear feminine voice called out suddenly from his earpiece, making him jolt slightly as his ears immediately recognised the voice but his brain struggled to understand. "You have quite a lot of lose Steve."

Steve put his hand up his comms and whispered. "...yn?"

"On your left."  Was the only reply, but it was a more masculine voice. It was Sam.

With great hesitation, he turned around to see an orange portal appear, the falcon soared proudly in his territory as the king and his men marched into the scene gracefully. Besides them, Bucky walked through holding his favourite gun and Yn flew in to the scene with her head slightly tilted.

Steve didn't have a moment to talk to them, for besides them, thousands of portals opened, revealing his allies, his friends, perhaps even though who were once his enemy but now are all together, fighting for a common purpose. The hope returned in his eyes as he watched his army grow in size, exceeding Thanos' army of aliens. Suddenly, he doesn't feel alone anymore, and he feels like he has purpose. His gaze fell onto the girl who was still in the air, her eyes gliding across the army in front of her as she tried to calculate the number. She must have sensed his gaze, for she immediately turned around and threw a smile at him. Steve watched as yn lifted her hand and spoke through comms, her voice immediately echoing through the earpiece. "You're not alone in this Steve."

The girl gestured towards the growing crowd behind her and smiled, leading Steve's eyes to follow where her vision glimpsed over. Indeed, it was a very large army. They're not all human, not all super heroes and not all enhanced, but they're all here. Eventually, the portals stopped emitting more people through, and all people stood in their stance, glaring at the opposing side with a hatred that nothing can describe. But none of them attacked.

"Give us the word Captain." Yn's voice called through comms again.

Steve nodded to himself as determination resettled in his heart. He called back Mjolnir and held his broken shield beside him as he gave his command but also the word of acceptance. With his "avengers assemble" echoing in the back of everyone's head, the fight was finally begun. This was their final fight, this was it. There's no losing this, because losing this means losing everything.
