I wake up when my alarm goes off at 6:00 am. I take a quick shower, and dry myself off.
Than I pick out a light blue loose fit tee-shirt, and high waisted white jean shorts. I slip them on over my underclothes and find my sandals with black straps with little gold beads on the strings that tie that ties in the front just above my ankle.
I go downstairs and eat a bowl if coco puffs. I drain the chocolaty milk, and brush my teeth. I comb through my hair and put it in two fishtail braids. They lay across my shoulders as I wash my face.
Piper comes in and messes with her hair for a minute as I apply some mascara and eye liner. I add a brush of light pink blush onto my cheeks, and blink at myself in the mirror. Than I leave so that Piper can get ready too.
I grab my bag and my longboard. Than I step outside and set my board on the ground on the sidewalk. I swing my bag over my shoulder and push off with my foot.
As I cruise down the sidewalk, I see Lorne on his own skateboard on the other side of the street.
"Hey!" I yell. He looks over and waves. Than he picks up his board and jogs over.
"What's up?" He smiles and butterflies fill my whole body. My knees go weak as I shrug, which sets me off balance. My cheeks blush as I wobble on my moving board.
"Nothing really." I grin, mostly because he's smiling at me. Also because he's next to me.
"Me neither."
We skate for a while.
"Are you excited for your first day?" He asks.
"Yeah. But I'm a little nervous..." I press my lips together and look to the ground moving under me.
"You'll be fine. You know where the bus picks us up right?"
I nod. "The next street, right?"
"Yep."
When we get to the bus stop, two people are already there.
One is a girl with long black hair and several earrings on only one ear. She is trending a black shapeless knee length dress and dark blue sneakers. The other is a boy, and is wearing A plain blue tee and khaki shorts. He seems to be very afraid of the girl.
I stop my board with my foot and pick it up.
"That's Kaye," He says, nodding to the girl. "And that's Chase," He nods toward the boy.
"Cool." I say. They both look over.
"Hey." The girl says. She smiles a surprisingly sweet smile.
"Um. Hi." I wave a hand and smile nicely.
"Are you new?" She asks.
"Um, yeah." I nod.
"Cool. I'm Kaye."
"I'm Camille."
"I like your skateboard." She says. I say thanks.
"I like your sneakers." I say. Than she says thanks.
The bus comes around the corner after a few seconds of weird silence, and opens the door for us to hop in. When I step on board, almost every seat is taken. Except for one. Kaye and Chase sit in seats far from each other.
"Pick any seat I guess." Lorne whispers in my ear from behind. A shiver rolls down my spine as his breath hits the back of my neck. I bit my lip and pick the seat nearest to me. Lorne sits in the one behind me.
The girl that I share my seat with, has wavy dark brown hair, and faces the window. She looks over, and we lock our brown eyes. I smile, and she smiles back. We sit and fidget with our hands as we wait for the bus to take us to school.
