I wake up on the off-white futon under the big window in my new room. The sun is shining down through the window, and warms my skin. I sit up from my curled up position and stretch my arms above my head. I yawn and rub the sleep out of my eyes. When I look to my bed, I see a lump in the center. I walk over and pull the covers up. Piper is laying there in a tank top and shorts.

"Piper." I shake her shoulder softly.

"Hmm?" She sits up and squints up at me.

"Morning sis." I whisper. She smiles weakly, nods, and crawls out of my bed.

We walk down the stairs together and into the kitchen. Mom stands at the stove stirring something in a pot.

"Good morning girls." She says as she lifts the wooden spoon out of the pot. She brings it to her lips and tastes it. "Hm."

"What are you making Mom?" I ask, looking into the pot. It's filled green liquid.

"I'm trying to make something unique. But, it isn't really turning out." Mom sighs and places the spoon in the sink. "Time to start over." Than she grabs the pot with oven mitts and dumps the substance into the sink. "By the way," She says, pulling off the mitts, "We were invited to a cookout at the Olson's. It starts at about noon. You two should go get ready. It's almost eleven."

I nod and Piper grabs two apples, handing one to me. I sink my teeth into it as I walk over to the stairs. Three boxes sit one the bottom step. One of them says "Camellia's Clothes".

I open it and claw through, looking for a nice looking outfit.

I find a white tee-shirt with little black elephants all over it, ripped jean shorts that go halfway down my thighs, and a light pink cotton cardigan. I run upstairs and strip out of my clothes from yesterday, and slide into my new outfit. Than I step into the bathroom down the hall. I brush my teeth, wash my face, and finger comb through my hair. Than I dab on a little concealer, brown eye shadow, and a thin layer of mascara. I shake my hair out before putting it into two fishtail braids.

Piper comes in while I mess with my eyelashes. She wears a pink and blue flowered romper. She also wears black vans. Her hair is pulled up in a messy-casual ponytail with a strand of hair wrapped around to hide the hair tie.

"Hey." She says. "Can you do my mascara?" She asks, watching me dab on a little red lipstick.

"Sure." I turn around and sit her down on the counter. I open the tube of mascara and brush it onto her eyes lashes. She cringes away as I try hard not to get it in her eyes. "Sorry." I whisper, twisting the mascara lid back on.

"It;s fine, still not used to it. Thanks sis." She says, hoping down. We leave the bathroom together and trot down the stairs.

"Ready to go?" Mom asks as we enter the kitchen.

"Yep."

"What about Dad?" Piper asks.

"He'll meet us there when he gets out of work in a little bit." Mom grabs a tray of fruit and walks to the door. I guess she gave up on whatever she was making...  I slip on my grey vans, and step out the door. We walk across the street, the sun shines rays of warmth down on our heads as we reach the front door. Mom rings the doorbell and Lorne opens the door.

"Oh, hey. Everyone's in the back yard. So, uh, yeah." He steps aside and Piper walks in, her phone in her hands. Mom nods and walks inside too.

"Hey Lorne." I say. He smiles shyly and looks at his feet.

"Hey Camille." He looks back up and into my eyes, and smiles. I gulp. He is really cute actually. His blue eyes are amazing. I blink myself out of my trance, and awkwardly smile back. Than I step inside and look around.
