Everyone around me sits down, and the bell rings. I remain standing next to Lorne's desk, feeling like an idiot.
"Come here," The teacher says, pointing to me, "Who are you?"
"Um-"
"This, Mr. Craven, is my dear friend, Camellia."
I turn and see Ash, standing on his chair.
"Sit down Mr. Bartlett." Mr. Craven says. Turning back to me, he frowns and points to a desk behind Lorne in the back. "You can sit there for now Ms. Olson."
I nod and it in the desk he pointed to, and swing my bag under my chair.
"Today, we will be finishing up our final. Ms. Olson, you can just it there and be quiet." Mr. Craven picks up a pile of papers off of his desk, and starts handing them out. "You all have the rest of class to finish. I will collect them when your done. When your done, you will be quiet. You may do something quiet like read, or just sit there. You may begin."
There's a second of rustling papers, and I take out my phone to read.
Mr. Craven walks over to me quietly, and whispers, "What do you think your doing?"
"Reading?" I make sure to take out all of the sarcasm in my voice.
"Nope, give me that." He thrusts out his hand. I hesitate, staring at his hand. "Give me your phone!" He whispers demandingly. I click my phone off and place it in Mr. Craven's hand. "Thank you Ms. Olson, you will get it back at the end of class." Than he walks away, leaving me to stare at my feet.
When we only have about twenty minutes left in class, Lorne finishes his test, and writes something on a small piece of paper. Than he reaches his hand over his shoulder casually, and hands me it.
I take it and unfold it.
I said to stay away from him!
I find a pencil in my bag.
Ash? He talked to me, and his locker is right by mine. I know you told me to, but it's kinda hard, I scribble.
He takes it and scowls at Ash.
Ok. Sorry. He's dangerous tho.
I sigh when I read what he wrote. I lean forward and whisper in his ear, "I'll try to stay away from him." He nods.
"Shh!"
I look up and Mr. Craven is glowering at me.
I don't think he likes me.
The bell rings awhile later, and I stand.
"Come on Camille, lets go to third hour." Lorne says. I grab my bag, stuffing my pencil inside.
"Camille, princess. Walk with me?" Ash swings an arm around my waist and pulls me close to him.
"Ash! Enough! Stop it!" I yell. People crowd and escape out the door into the hallway.
"Okay okay okay!" Ash let go of me and strides out of the door.
"Come on, lets go." I say. I grab Lorne's hand and pull him out the door. "Where's third period?" I ask.
"This way." Lorne leads me to a classroom a few doors down. We step inside and sit at desks next to each other.
"You can call me Mz. P." The teacher says to me. She wears a long, rainbow colored floral dress that brushes the ground. She's a lot taller than me, and wears light brown leather sandals on her long, thin feet. Her long, straight blond hair hangs down her back, and her blue eyes dazzle even in the dull lighting of the classroom.
