My throat feel tight and scratchy. I long for water.
I stand on shaky legs, and stumble through the darkness to the stairs. I grab the railing for support, and practically pull myself up the steps. I find myself in the living room, squinting even in the dim light from the standing lamps, beside the couch.
There's a tall glass of water standing on the counter in the kitchen. I stumble into the room quickly, and gulp it down. As I set the empty glass onto the counter, Piper appears in the doorway looking annoyed.
"That was my water." Piper says. I half smile and hand her the glass. Rolling her eyes, and raising an eyebrow, she fill the glass back up.
"Sorry." I purse my lips, already feeling thirsty again. She flicks her wrist in a 'oh well' way. She sips from the glass, and I trudge up stairs. Finding my way to the bathroom, I peel out of my clothes, and step into the warm shower.
As I stand under the water, my dream comes back to me, and my hands start to shake. Even under the hot water, I shiver, and wrap my arms around myself. My stitched lips, and Jax calling for me, stain my memory. I can still feel the thread in my flesh, and Jax's voice echoing in my ears.
I continue to shower, still shivering, washing and conditioning my hair, than washing my body, and climb out. I wrap a towel around my trembling body, and look in the mirror above the sink. My face is bone white. Dark circles around my wide, scared eyes.
My pajamas feel especially soft and warm, as I slide into them. Curling up in my bed, I realize that I'm not tired. At all. So with a few moments of thought, I walk downstairs, and sit deep in the couch in the living room. I turn on the tv, and search for something to watch, as my heart beats loudly in my ears. I find an old movie from 1968, called Chitty Chitty Band Bang. The movie is cheesy, but laughable.
I fall asleep before the movie ends.
