The days have passed and the Australian Grand Prix is here, at this point I love my job, everything seems to be going perfect with the car and I am very happy. These days were key for me to relax and think about what I should do and which way I should go to build my relationship with Lando. I haven't been able to see him after breakfast at my flat because he had to train hard and I needed to sort out some issues with the other engineers not to mention he was in Monaco, but I think missing someone sometimes is necessary to realise that you really want to be with that person.
I parked my car at the circuit and walked down to the pits super excited to see Lando and also to start working but more to see Lando, today is free practice and we need the best performance possible and he needs to be ok.

"Hey!" someone shouted behind me and I turned to see if they were calling my name and saw Mick coming up to me and unzipping his racing suit.

"Hey Shumi" I smiled and waved "What are you doing here? You shouldn't be in the car" I joked and he laughed.

"I am but I wanted to come and say hi" he spoke as he pulled his arms out of the suit and tied it around his hips "I haven't seen you since Jeddah".

"Yeah, I went home to rest, take advantage of these days off you know" I said taking a sip of my coffee.

"Yeah" he was serious now "I saw you were with Lando" he looked at me trying to meet my eyes.

"We are starting a kind of relationship" I tried to be as brief as possible, I didn't want to tell anyone yet because I don't want anyone to ruin this.

"Oh, congratulations then" Mick said nervously running his hand behind his head "But we can be friends, right?"

"We're not a couple yet and yes, we can be friends" we both smiled. Honestly Mick was super nice to me from the beginning and I think we can become good friends.

"Perfect, then we can go out sometime for dinner or do something fun" he proposed.

"You definitely have to teach me how to surf" I said very convinced but I'm actually afraid of the water, I mean the ocean and the depths, I always wondered what's under the ocean.

"That would be great" he stretched out his hands in excitement "And we are in Australia the best place to surf, maybe we could stay a few more days after the race and go to the coast" Mick said hoping for a quick answer, but I wasn't sure if I should stay I really want to make plans with Lando and spend more time with him.

"I don't know, I was hoping to spend time with Lando and..." I couldn't finish my thought when Mick interrupted me.

"So we can go tomorrow before qualifying, what do you think?" he had wet puppy dog eyes and I was embarrassed to say no to him.

"Sounds good to me" I said and his grin got bigger.

"Mick! Time to drive" one of his mechanics yelled at him and he ran off.

"See you tomorrow!" he shouted with a smile and a wave of his hand.

"See you!" I smiled and shouted back raising my hand in salute as well and then took off for the pits.
The practice was amazing, everything went as planned, Lando and Daniel were literally flying and the team was more than satisfied, I stayed a while longer in the pits talking to the other engineers to see what parts we should improve or change.
Two hours after the meeting I went to my motorhome to change my clothes and pick up my stuff and go to the hotel, my mood was not good at all, I didn't have a chance to see Lando on the track. A few days before the Grand Prix I had told him that he should only focus on the race, I didn't want to be a distraction for him, during the week we could see each other but when it's time to race he should only focus on that. Once at the hotel I took the elevator and the doors opened on my floor, I stopped as I saw Lando sitting in my doorway with his head resting on it and his eyes closed. My heart melted to see him like that, he was waiting for me, sleeping on the floor for I don't know how long. I put my briefcase to the side, walked over to him and knelt down, brushed the curls off his forehead with my hand, then kissed his cheek and he opened his eyes.
