chapter three
[ fast adapter ]The morning came. it came with Ao'Nung shaking her awake and her punching him in his shoulder. everything was good though, as it always was, that is. it firmly wasn't allowed to be anything other.
Nakili was walking beside Kiri. "how was the ocean last night?" Nakili asked with a smile. she was very much interested.
"beautiful, really. i've never seen anything like it." Kiri remembered her experience vividly. it was amazing.
"a fast adapter you are, Kiri."
partners. everyone had gotten them. to be exact, Kiri was with Rotxo, Ao'Nung with Tuk, Lo'ak was partnered up with Tsireya, and lastly Nakili with Neteyam.
"i don't know if it's working." Neteyam wined. Nakili, she tried her best to explain how to breathe with your stomach. "i think i need visuals." he looked around at everyone else.
"visuals?" Nakili tilted her head. she wanted to teach him like she taught Kiri, however it was different, Kiri was a girl, a female. she didn't want to invade his personal space.
"i don't know." Neteyam laughed and shrugged his shoulders.
Nakili sighed. "here." she placed her hand on his stomach. his breath hitched as she did so. he looked down at her hand, and Nakili could tell he was nervous when he looked back up at her, pupils dilated, much like hers when she first saw him.
"breathe through here." she moved her thumb slowly against his skin.
let be honest. Neteyam was nervous. a pretty girl was touching him. of course he was nervous. he thought she was beautiful, how could he not. and oh how much did he admire her dear heart.
"and slow... your heartbeat." she placed a hand on his chest. she watched his eyes as she held her hand still. she gasped dramatically.
"what? what?" he repeated himself, eyes wide.
she laughed a bit at his reaction in which he laughed back. "nothing, it just your heartbeat." he nodded as he made eye contact. "it's... really fast."
Neteyam felt Lo'ak turn to look at him from beside him. Neteyam turned to look at his brother who had a smirk on his lips. Lo'ak had heard Nakili. Neteyam glared at Lo'ak and turned back to Nakili who had her eyes squinted at him.
"just relax, Neteyam." his name rolled off her tongue and she tilted her head. her voice and body language really wasn't helping Neteyam slow his heart. if anything, it was making him more nervous. and not in a bad bad way.
"sorry." he breathed. "sorry." he closed his eyes tight, and the moment he did, Nakili looked down and smiled. any one other would say that she blushed. but she wasn't one to admit it.
his breathing slowed. good thing Neteyam had closed his eyes. looking at them big teal eyes only made his heartbeat sky rocket.
"good." Nakili said quietly and removed her hands from Neteyam slowly. Neteyam opened his eyes. he exhaled.
"yeah?" Neteyam breathed out with a smirk twitching on his lips.
Nakili, with her hands on her thighs, breathed out a laugh and looked down. Neteyam admired her only. he didn't take his eyes off of her, she was just... perfect. she looked back up. "you'll learn." Neteyam smiled at her.

Aonung made a tuc tuc noise as he called for his ilu. "these are ilu." he held his arms out as Nakili slowly entered the water. she listened to her brother. "if you want to live here, you must learn to ride." Nakili smiled at her brother as she passed him.
