  chapter o-seventeen
[ authors note ]

nine hours later and i'm back. hi, as the writer and professional editor of this book, i would just like to say thank you, because if your reading this, not only did you read this book, but you are also helping me grow as a writer.

i just wanted to say some things. Nakili, my oc, was based off of no other than me. her words choice and her expressions; her emotions, were all based off of me. when normally i would base by characters off of other characters, i wanted to be her for a while and i'm so glad i did, as it took me approximately nine days to write this book.

also. let's talk names. Nakili's name in particular which i am sure i already have talked about before. Nakili means copy in english. however when i initially gave her the name Nakili i hadn't even considered what it might've meant.

i however didn't want to misinterpret the name itself so i looked it up. that's when i found out that the name Nakili meant copy. no other name could be more personal, specific, and lastly, perfect for her. and if you read this book, you could probably already understand why her name would be Nakili, which again meant copy.

but if you don't know, or maybe you just didn't understand, Nakili was the reincarnation of her mother Kittane, in which had died the day Nakili was born (which was hours later.) here's a more in depth explanation: Eywa honored Kittane. so when she died, Eywa created Nakili to show her respect. in other words, created Nakili to see what Kittane could not. to meet who Kittane could not.

i just wanted to say thank you for everyone, ghost readers or not. i loved writing Neteyam and Nakili's relationship and everything other. i am simply so grateful for you all.

and lastly

xoxo-birdie
