"Duck!" I screamed and threw the small homemade bomb over Nixie's head. She quickly rolled closer to me and leaned on her knees to wipe the dirt off her face. The bomb landed on the mine's floor in the middle of a huge group of slimes then exploded. I braced myself as the slime residue splashed over us. "You okay?" I asked, helping her up.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Nixie tied her long hair back with an old piece of string and then looked behind us. "Let's go!" She pointed to an old ladder top that were uncovered by the bomb's explosion. We rushed closer and started descending down the ladder as quickly as we could. The mutated vampire bats started swarming our presence.

"Nixie, bats!" I pointed while handing onto the old rickety piece of wood and then decided to just jump the rest of the way down. Nixie caught one of the bats with her hands then slammed it against the mine's wall, dark blood splattering over her face. Suddenly, several stones started shaking. Nixie jumped beside me and wiped the bat's blood out of her eyes and looked at the shivering rocks.
"What is that?!" She screamed. I held my sword tightly in my hands and couldn't answer at the disgusting creature that formed in front of us. As if it was awoken from the depths of it's slumber, the stones gathered itself to a humanoid shape and peering glowing eyes.
"It's alive!" I screamed and slashed my sword against it's torso. My blade scraped the hard rocks with no effect to it.
"Hit in between the rocks, I think that's connected with tissue!" Nixie yelled while dodging a mutated bat and swinging at it with her smaller but sharper sword. I held my weapon up and waited for the golem to take some steps towards me before I ran forward and jumped off a smaller rock and then slashed my sword between the small gap the rocks in the neck. The creature let out a shivering growl and slumped over, black liquid ran from the broken neck.
Nixie let out a scream and my attention was quickly turned towards her. I ran forward and watched my best friend try to rip the giant bug out of her hair. I rushed forward and grabbed the bug's legs and yanked backwards, tearing them off and falling on my back with a grunt. The bug stopped moving and twitched on top of Nixie who now sat on her butt and picked the rest of the bug's body off of her and threw it to the side.

"Let's go home." She breathed then held up her bag, "we have enough to buy our crops for this season." I stood up and wiped the gunk off me after sheathing my sword.
"When will we get a coop?" I asked. Nixie went over to the old and dusty elevator and started messing with the electronics of it. Ever since her and Sebastian started dating, he taught her more and more about technology. To say I was jealous she had snagged Sebastian before I even had a chance to feel something for Shane, was an understatement.
"We can get one instead of the entire crop's worth but that means less money. And less buying special things." Nixie reminded. The elevator's bell lit up and the door opened. We stepped in and it started going up the 35 levels.

"Okay. I'd rather do that then the same boring crops.  I also want at least two starting ducks." I yawned. The door opened and we started walking out to the entrance.
"We can do that then, nothing wrong with that." She smiled. We went through town to walk home and on our way, I saw Shane walking home from work. "Hey!" I called. He stopped and looked at me. I heard Nixie groan under her breath.
"Hey." He said then eyes widened, "what happened?"
"Oh just a little tussle in the mines!" I said, putting a hand on my hip. I had bat's blood on my shoes and clothes and my face had dirt all over it. Shane chuckled, "I've never been in the mines before."
"Really?" My eyes widened, "we need to go sometime! Not for mining but just a small tour." I said.

Shane thought about it and kind of hesitated but then rubbed the back of his head, "yeah sure. Tomorrow would be good, I don't have work." I beamed and nodded.
"We can go to the first level and then just look around. I'm a pro at it, as you can see." I held up bat wings, the spoils from my cave adventure before putting it back in my bag after seeing Shane cringe with a small smile.
"Bambi, we gotta go." Nixie said. I looked at her with an annoyed look.
