"I got ten. Do I move ten?""That's not how you play, Bambi."
"But do I move ten?"
"No."
"Why?"
"We already explained this." Nixie glared at me. I shot her the same glare. "Shut up, I'm moving ten."
"Move where?" Sebastian pointed to the board game's corners with his finger, "there's no tiles. That's not how this works."
"Hon, you just have to-"
"Hush!" I snapped at Shane then looked down at the board. I hated playing these games. Sebastian and Shane had come over to hang out and have dinner but the storm that night destroyed any chances of that happening. Our power had completely shut off and we were playing an old board game next to an old lantern and some candles on the floor in the living room. The lighting cracked at the sky and the wind blew so violent it swayed the old house slightly.
I tilted my head and picked up my wooden character, "what do I do?"
"We explained already!" Nixie grabbed the game piece out of my hand and slapped it down on the board game, "you have no memory of anything!" I scowled at her and leaned across the board to poke at her chest.
"I have better memory than you."Shane and Sebastian sat across from each other while me and Nixie did the same. "You have bad memory, bad ideas, and you always leave muddy footprints in the house!" Nixie snapped. At this point, it was full insults whether they were true or not. We were in a sister spat and I didn't care if I hurt her feelings.
"You're just mad I raise most of the money and pay most of the bills! My chickens and ducks do way more than your silly little plants." I wiggled my fingers in her directions and narrowed my eyes.
Sebastian's mouth opened slightly as he glanced at Nixie. Her usual pale face was red from the anger.
"You take the same route," She poked my chest," every time you see Shane," she poked me again, "because you cannot remember the path there from Pelican Town. Hell, you can't even go through Cindersap Forest correctly!"
Shane slowly rubbed his stubbled chin and watched me with widened eyes.
I stood up, kicking away the blanket I was sitting on, and stomped over to the door. "I know that forest better than you know your brother!"
"At least my parents don't hate me and didn't kick me out!" Nixie stood up. This time, Sebastian covered his mouth fully and stared at her then back at me.
"You're just mad over a fucking board game!" I shoved a boot on then the other. "And we'll see who can navigate Cindersap forest. I navigated that maze JUST fine!"
"Bambi, come here." Shane stood up.
"No, let her go!" Nixie waved me off. "Let her get lost in the storm."
Shane walked over and started trying to take my hands, "this is a really bad idea and you know it is."
"Oh sure! Take her side!" I hissed, "you don't think I can do it either."
Shane looked taken back by my sudden turning on him but he hooked a hand around my arm and tugged me away from the door. Sebastian had already stood up behind Nixie to try and calm her down.
"You need to at least get a jacket on or wait for it to not be so... dangerous." Sebastian pointed out to me. Nixie crossed her arms and turned her back to me. I loved her like a sister and that's exactly why I wanted to prove her wrong; sisterly arguments are no joke.
