I took my tank top off and laid it on the ground then stretched. The air felt amazing on my bare skin and I walked on the dock to sit and wait for Jas. I figured we could both talk and dip our feet in before diving in. A minutes later, I heard a door shut and an excited voice. I figured she was talking to herself, as kids do, or to Marnie.

I got up and took my hair out of the ponytail I had it in. I was surprised to see Jas, in a little cute swimsuit, and Shane holding her hand. He wore just a regular old white shirt and swim shorts.

"Bambi!" Jas ran up excitedly, "today, I got to pet the cows and got to pet the goats!"

"That's awesome!" I smiled. Shane kept his gaze on the ground, as if he was avoiding my eyes.

"Uh hey." I waved to him. He looked up at me. I swore I saw his face almost redden immediately but he looked down again. "Fun day at work?" I asked. He shrugged.

"Just work like every other day."

"Well now we can swim!" I took hold of Jas' small hand and walked over to the dock again to jump in. She giggled and counted down from three then we both jumped from the dock and into the water. It felt amazing. The water was warm on top and cold right at your toes the deeper you went in.

Not knowing if Jas could swim, I paddled over and kept my hands ready to hold her in case she started sinking. Jas blinked water out of her big eyes a few times before squealing with happiness.

"That was so fun!" Jas said. She then turned towards Shane, who made himself comfy on the edge of the dock, and said- "Did you see how high I jumped, Uncle Shane?!"

"I did." He smiled at her. "You're doing great on your swimming, squirt."

She giggled and started doggy paddling around in small circles.

I almost swooned. Something about rough men being nice to little kids is just the best ever. I visibly cringed at my thoughts. Why would I swoon for Shane? He's a jerk half the time.

I turned to said-jerk and smirked. "Get in."

"No way." Shane scooted back from the water as if he knew I would try to pull him in.

"Y-you're not getting in?" Jas asked then started to try and climb up near Shane. I pushed her legs up and she flopped down beside him, dripping from the water.

"I'm not a big swimmer Jas." He reminded her, leaning back on his hands.

I decided to sit by Jas and swam up, sticking my hand out. Jas grabbed it.

"But," she pulled hard, "you promised!" She pulled again. There was no way a little ten year old was helping a 19 year old up.

"Help me." I snapped at Shane. He rolled his eyes then got up and took my hand. His hands were rough but he seemed gentle when he held my hand and wrist then with one yank, I was out of the water. I almost tripped and then felt his rough hand on my bare waist and thigh to balance me.

"Um..." Shane's face returned to that red state and he yanked his hand away then sat near Jas again, "I was just coming to watch you swim."

"Please?" She begged, her eyes pleading.

I sat beside her and started to ring my hair out for some reason. I was feeling fidgety already from what just happened and I'm sure my red ears showed how embarrassed I was.

"Ugh..." Shane leaned back and rubbed his face as if he was seriously debating. While he did that, I noticed he was right near the edge...

I smiled and as Jas kept begging, I got up and sneaked right behind him. Using both of my hands, I pushed him in, also falling with him in the process. I fell in head first and couldn't see a thing.

I popped up for air and saw a laughing Jas and a pissed Shane who was using one hand to keep himself above water by holding onto the wooden dock, as if he was too lazy to swim himself.

"What?" I smiled. Shane's purple hair darkened with the water and it lightened his eyebags considerably. He should really wash his face more.

"I'm plenty capable of getting in myself, Bambi." Shane snapped. Jas jumped in right between us, splashing both of us in the eyes. I rubbed my face with one hand and said,

"Yeah but you were really slow doing it. And awwe you know my name?"

"Of course I-... shut up." He held a hand on my head and ducked me under water. I waited there for a bit, fangirling out of the playful reaction I got from him. At least we're becoming friends.

I rose up by Jas and held her up to throw her. "Yippee!" She screamed as I threw her a little further away in the water.
I noticed Shane had a big smile on his face, which I've never seen him smile so big before.

"Want me to throw you too Shane?" I teased, swimming closer and keeping an eye on Jas who was diving up and out of the water.

He snorted and looked down at the water, "yeah as if you could even pick me up. But you know what? I probably couldn't pick you up either."

"Hey, I weigh 98 pounds!" I snapped, "and besides you picked me up earlier." I swam around him, trying to get him to let go of that stupid dock.

Shane swam out to the middle a little ways, also keeping an eye on Jas, and chuckled. "You're 98 pounds?"

"It's rude to ask a lady her weight especially when she's already said it." I giggled and then traced down his arm, "you and your big ass muscles just swooped me out of the water in one pull." I swam a couple inches away.

"Muscles, huh?" Shane raised his eyebrow at me.

"L-like.. well yeah everyone has muscles, Shane." I felt heat rising to my face then dove in the water quickly, hearing a soft laugh from him as I dove down.

Why is he making me blush so much?
