JUNGKOOK POV
"We've finally gotten the go-ahead to purchase Barton Industries." Jeon Jungkook
stated as he strode into his grandfather's glass-walled office.Seattle was dark and stormy in the background, the setting sun barely visible through the clouds.
He eyed his younger brother
Joon and his grandfather, Jih
before heading for the bar cart.He poured himself a stiff drink and drained half the glass
before turning back to them."I know what we said in the meetings but I do think it would be beneficial to break them up into smaller pieces before we begin selling everything off."
"Agreed." Jih was quick to reply.
Too quick.
Apparently, his grandfather had had no intention of following through with his promise.
"We told their board we would not do that." Joon said lifting
a brow as he eyed Jungkook."Sometimes we must say what they need to hear in order to
get them to sign their name
to the dotted line..."Jih sized Joon up a moment before shaking his head and glancing at Jungkook.
"At least one of my grandsons understands that."
Joon rolled his eyes and gazed
at Jungkook."And the hundreds of people who'll likely lose their jobs?"
"Just a part of doing
business." Jungkook said."When did you become so cold-hearted, brother?" Without waiting for an answer, Joon turned to their grandfather.
"Weren't you just talking to
me of the family legacy?""Just what is that? Clearly
not honor."Jeon Jih scoffed, lifting one
thick brow. "I did not build this company by playing fair.""I've done far worse along
the way.""So because you've done
worse, this doesn't rate in comparison?" Joon blasted."We should just ignore the feeling in our guts and
move on?""Joon!" Jungkook snapped, quieting his brother.
"Yes, there will be some job losses at the onset but by breaking up the conglomerate into smaller pieces, it'll be
easier for us to sell them and generate a larger profit.""You know full well they're mismanaging the smaller operations because they'd
grown too large, They can no longer see the big picture.""In the long term, there will likely be more jobs added once we sell them to those who
can manage them properly.""This is a good thing."
"I thought we'd discussed reviewing the individual businesses and working to improve upon their performance." Joon snapped.
"Give the company a chance."
"Of course we discussed it
but we never agreed that was what we would do." Jungkook told his brother."We discussed many possibilities and after careful analysis,
I think this is our best option.""The investment of time and manpower won't equal any
more profit than we would get selling it off. Piece by piece.""And what happens when some one comes for our company?"
"Breaks it into smaller pieces
and sells it off to the highest bidder?" Joon asked.
