JUNGKOOK POV

"Morning! I didn't expect you here today."

He lifted his stare from a report on his computer to eye Joon.

"It's a workday, just like any other."

"But you were just mated yesterday."

He scowled. "So I was."

Joon's smile faded.

"Already trouble at home?"

"That's none of your
business." Jungkook spat.

Joon lifted both hands in
mock surrender.

"You got it... Your problems
are your own but I'm really
not surprised."

"I mean, what did I expect
when my brother mated a
virtual stranger out of nowhere?"

"Get out of my office."

Jungkook growled.

"Before I say something you won't like."

Joon chuckled.

"Have fun stewing in here."

"Alone."

His brother left quickly, fortunately.

He had gotten through most
of the morning before he was summoned to his grandfather's office.

His grandfather looked furious, seated behind his huge desk.

"Were you ignoring me son?"

"Not at all." he answered,
trying to rein in the foul mood
he was in before he took his grandfather's head off.

"Sorry that your strategy to discredit me backfired?"

Jungkook frowned.

"My strategy to discredit you?"

"Joon dragged me to see a doctor while you were away—apparently under your orders."

"I'm as fit as a fiddle, I'm sure he's shared that with you."

He knew I was sending him
to see a doctor. We discussed it.

"He only took you to see your
GP, Now we need to get a specialist."

"Someone who focuses in cognition and memory."

"Cognition?" Jih sputtered.

"I'm as clear minded today
as I was at thirty."

"No more doctors."

"I know about the dementia, Grandfather."

"I also know you demanded
your assistant not tell us."

Jih's face grew deep red.

"I did no such thing! You want your hands on my company
and it'll be over my dead body."

Jungkook shook his head.

"I was looking out for your welfare, That's all."

"Lies! I built this company from the ground up and I won't have you stealing it out from under me, Who do you think you're playing with? I can ruin you!"

"Ruin me?" Jungkook rose from the chair, rage filling him.

"Ruin me..." He shook his head.

"Fine if you're so fit and clear-minded, then you don't need
me."

"Keep your company... I don't want it. I quit." Jungkook spun and started walking out but paused and turned back.

"And another thing, your plan with hoseok backfired, I'm
sorry to say."

"What plan?" Jih asked.

"I mated Jimin yesterday."

"Well, he's Jeon Jimin now."

He paused a moment,
wondering if he wasn't
setting himself up to fail.

out, ignoring his grandfather's commands for him to return.

But as soon as he stalked into
his office, he knew he'd been
an asshole.

His anger over Jimin''s rejection had fueled a foul mood all morning.

It had allowed him to fly off
the handle and say things he didn't mean.

Before that omega, he'd been cool and collected.

Maybe Jih had been right about passion after all, It was already turning his world upside down.

His assistant raced in moments later, his face pale.

"Your grandfather—"

"I'll go up and talk to him in a minute after I've cooled down."
