JIMIN POV

Later that evening...

Once he arrived home after
dark, Jimin kicked the door closed behind him.

He dropped his satchel by the door and collapsed into the first chair he reached, ignoring the pile of mail sitting on the floor.

"This has been the shittiest
day of my life."

He scrubbed both hands over
his face and tried to shove the pain he felt over learning the truth down deep.

Both starving and not hungry,
he rested a few more minutes, weighing his options.

He doubted there was much
of anything in the fridge.

He'd bought a couple of slices of pizza on his way home the night before but neglected to grab anything on his way that night.

"The one thing that is in the fridge is wine."

That got him on his feet in a
jiffy.

He was pouring himself a nice glass of red when there was
a knock on the door.

He froze, wondering if it was Jungkook.

The alpha had been blowing up his phone all day and he'd
nearly gone nuts.

He'd ignored them all so maybe the man had given up on the calls and tried a more direct route.

When he reached the door, he peeked through the side curtain and saw it was an entirely different alpha.

He opened the door and
saw Kai standing outside,
looking rather glum.

"I'm not really in the mood
for guests tonight."

"Today has been utterly terri—"

Kai lifted a bag as Jimin had begun to speak and the scent
of take-out noodles hit his nose.

His favorite.

"I was harsh on you when you returned and I'm sorry." Kai smiled wanly.

"I know how empty your refrigerator normally is, so
I took a shot in the dark."

"Thought it would make up
for me being a shitty friend."

"Why do you have to be so
good to me? I don't deserve it."

"You do." Kai murmured,
walking in as Jimin pushed the screen open for him.

"I like taking care of you
jiminie."

He hated when anyone called him Jimmie.

He only let Kai get away with it.

On occasion.

And considering the rumbling
of his stomach and the smell
of those noodles, he wasn't arguing over it.

"I'll get the chopsticks." He strode into the kitchen.

"Want some wine?"

"I just opened some red."

"Should you be drinking?"

A reminder he just might be pregnant added to his trying day.

He spun to glare at the alpha.

"One, I might not be pregnant."

"And two, one glass of wine
isn't going to cause issues."

"If there's even a baby."

Kai's stare went to his flat stomach for a moment before
it lifted.
