Chapter 9

Jay's pov:

After Nathan, Siva, and Nyx left, I sat down at the table and ran my fingers through my hair.

"Well, that was unexpected." Tom said. I looked up at him.

"Yeah, I know." I responded. I looked over at Max. He was sitting across for me and he was looking at the ground.

"What are you thinking about?" Tom asked him. Max lifted his head up and set it on the table.

"I am just wondering about what could have happened to make her scared. I mean, why would she be scared of me?" He looked horrible. Tom then got up and started to pace the room. He only did that when he was nervous.

"Tommy, whats wrong?" Max always knew when Tom wanted to talk. Which now was an obvious time.

"She was hurt. She was HURT! That is sick and wrong. Who could have hurt her?! How long did it last?! What did they do to her?! She probably thinks that it is her fault!" He blew up. I just sat there speechless. I have never seen Tom like this before. Tom went back to his seat and say down. He took his phone and started to text someone.

"Are you texting Kelsey?" Max asked. Tom nodded his head.

"I am asking her if she will go shopping with Nyx. I want to see how she is around girls." He put his phone down and messed with his hair.

We sat there for a couple of minutes. Then Nathan walked in here. He looked horrible. He took the last chair and started to tear up.

"What happened?" Max said as he scooted up to the table.

"Nyx told me about what happened to her. She had Seev and me ask the questions." He wiped his eyes.

"Can you tell us?" Tom interjected. Nathan looked up at him and nodded.

"Her father abused her. Her mother tried to protect her, but she died when Nyx was 10. That was when it went down hill. When she was 12-ish, he then had his friends pay money to be with her. I don't know how long that this lasted. She is not afraid of me, because the younger guys would take care of her. We stopped talking, because it was getting really intense." He told us this and we were astounded.

I looked over at Tom. He had his hands balled up in fists and he was getting really agitated. Max looked horrible. But he just sat there. Nathan had his head on the table and he was crying.

"Guys, its okay. She is with us now. That will never ever happen to her again. Because we are here to protect her." I told them. Max nodded his head in agreement.

"Did she say why that sick bastard did this?" Tom broke the silence. Nathan looked at him.

"She thinks that she is crazy, but yes, she did say." Nathan was vague. Which made us want to know even more.

"Dammit Nathan! Tell us!" Tom demeaned.

"She sees ghosts." Nathan said. I just looked at him. Max gasped. Tom got out of seat and stormed out of the room. I just sat there. None of us decided to get up to make sure that he was okay.
