So much on my brain
Don't know if you can take it
Your heart is fragile, baby
I don't wanna break it
If you know my sins
Will you still trust me?
If I let you in
Will you still love me?
Can you keep a secret?
I've got skeletons
They're coming out the closet
The hands around my throat
Don't want me to be honest
If you know my sins?
Will you still trust me?
If I let you in
Will you still love me?
Ah-I see monsters in my bed
Ah-I got screws loose in my head
If I show you inside me
The ghost in my mind
Will you treat me like your friends?
Ah-I gotta know
Can you keep a secret?
Look me in my eyes
And see what I've been hiding
Don't act surprise, you know
I've always hated lying
Gave your heart and soul
Told me to take it
You're the one who said
Nothing could change itThe sun shun through the dark curtains in the larger bedroom. The burgundy walls still kept it dark enough for the boy to sleep and not be awaken by the sunlight. He slept peacefully and sound, laying on his back and head to the side, a curl of his Auburn hair dangled over his remarkable face. He was seemingly knocked out. Completely exhausted from last nights events. The bed a mess.
He slowly awakened from his slumber as he grunts, moving his head to the other side. He heard footsteps walking around his room. He pressed his eyes together and opened them slowly. He saw his mother move around his room, putting things away as she brought a plate with freshly made food and water for him to drink. His head was pulsing. And his mother placed the plate and the drink on his nightstand. And when his sleepy eyes wandered to his door. He saw Raven leaned against it with her shoulder, arms crossed in front of her chest, just watching him with an lowered head as her red wavy strands of her hair hovered over her face. He ripped himself out from his sleepiness and jumped up, pushing himself upright against his bed, but he caught himself grunt in pain when he grabbed his head with his hand. The headache didn't make it easy for him.
His mother placed a gentle hand on his shoulder when she saw him startle. "You need to rest, son!" she reminded him.
"I just have a headache, that's all." he retorted sleepily. Adjusting himself in his position to feel comfortable.
"You were lucky Maya brought you safely to bed." His mother scolded him a bit. "This is why I tell you to ease up on the drinking! Got yourself in a heavy bar fight."
"Mother, please." he groaned, rolling his head to the side, pressing his eyes shut in annoyance.
His mother knew he wanted to be left alone. She let out a worried sigh as she looked to the door seeing Raven stand there still. They nodded towards each other as his mother passed her and walked out the room.
Raven cocked her head to the side when the old woman passed her, she diverted her eyes back to Bojan. She saw fear in his eyes but she understood him. She was frightened of herself too when she discovered her abilities. She can't imagine how it is for a normal human seeing a living rarity that people whispered about standing right before him. She recalled the shock on his face, the pure sight of fear and how he went so pale, snow was not just to him. She didn't say a word, standing in silence with him.
Bojan gulped looking her up and down. He couldn't hide his facial expression. He still feared her and yet he was a bit angry with her too, annoyed even. He distanced himself, filled with mistrust towards the summoner.
"Is that what you told her?" he asked, scoffing. "That I got drunk and we got in a bar fight?"
"Someone once told me, telling half the story is not the same as lying." Raven gave from herself in a gentle voice. She knew exactly from whom she had learned those words. He was living in her nightmares. Each and every night she would see him, see the last picture she remembered of him. Standing there bruised and injured from the fall and the Volcra that surrounded them. She would hear him say her name before the screeches flooded the Fold and her eyes fell close. It is a painful memory to her. One that clenched her heart and let it shatter every time she would remember or dream about it. She turned her heart to stone. Refused to let any tear fall again down her face. She would feel the pain in her heart and within her being so strongly, she wondered how she didn't break. She hid it well. Numbed herself inside her, numbed the feelings and pushed it aside, locking them in a cage. And yet she caught herself wonder whether he is still alive. A part of her hoped he is, another hoped he is dead. Perhaps it is for the best. At least the war would've been over and everyone could restart their lives. And when she would dream of her Crows and Serpents, inside her she knew they thought her dead. Perhaps that is for the best too.
