Hours later
I woke to see Lei sitting at the side of my hospital bed. She threw her arms around me in a tight embrace as she saw me wake.
"I'm so sorry, I don't know why I left you there, it's all my fault! I'm so sorry, you don't have to forgive me."
I hugged her tightly as she sobbed into my shoulder.
"I forgive you, why wouldn't I? I get your reasoning. We're both okay and that's all that matters."
"You're not mad?"
I shook my head.
"I'm sorry, you're the best friend I could ever ask for. I just felt jealous I guess. I meant nothing I said."
"It's okay, I forgive you."
I felt her sigh of relief, and she released me from her embrace.
"How do you feel?"
"I'm okay, does Nova know what happened?"
She nodded.
"I feel so bad that both of you are in the hospital, neither of you deserves pain."
"It's not all your fault, it's fine. We're all alive, right?"
She nodded again.
"Right, so everything is fine. You should go home, I'll see you in the morning okay?"
"Okay," She hugged me once more before leaving the room, shutting the door behind her.
I couldn't help but overthink as I lay in the darkness. Did I forgive her too fast? She did leave me alone after all. Even though she apologized, her words still hurt. They left indelible scars on me. But she was just jealous and angry, she didn't mean anything said. Right?
Stop overthinking Dawn, you've known her since you were little, she wouldn't hurt you intentionally if she was thinking straight.
