I awoke the next morning to Nova's arm's around my waist in a tight embrace, I brushed her damp hair out of her face, and noticed Lei wasn't in her spot on the floor. She must've gotten up earlier. I felt Nova starting to shift awake, and her beautiful blue eyes opened, looking into mine.

"Good morning beautiful," I whispered, planting a kiss on her forehead.

She mumbled something incoherent and nuzzled her head into my shoulder, I chuckled.

I sighed in contentment, then Lei's yelling from downstairs pulled me out of my state of relaxation.

"Dawn! Our flight is in one hour get your stuff!"

My heart dropped.

No.

I don't want to leave her. I can't.

But I have to.

I pulled Nova out of my grasp. "Nova, I have to go."

"I know. I'll help you get your stuff." She got off the bed, avoiding eye contact as she help gather my stuff. I heard her sniffle, but I didn't want to make her feel worse so I said nothing as we packed my stuff in silence.

The drive to the airport was silent. I sat in the passenger seat as my blonde strands blew in the wind, exactly how they did on the drive to Lara's on the first day of summer. Neither of us said anything, Nova and Lei sat in the back in silence, Lara made no effort to start a conversation either.

This has been the best summer of my life. It felt like a lifetime.

I am trying so hard not to break down, thinking of all the memories I made in only two months, and having to leave this part of my life behind.

'Total Eclipse of The Heart' by Bonnie Tyler started playing on the radio, and my heart skipped a beat. It's our song.

But neither of us sang along, we just shared a couple sad glances.

Lara pulled into the parking lot of the airport, and helped us with our luggage. My heart sank even more, if that was even possible at this point.

Our plane was set to depart in ten minutes, so me and Lei walked towards our gate. I looked back at Nova as she stared into my soul with tearful eyes, I couldn't find the courage to say goodbye. It would hurt whether I said goodbye or not.

Lei and I boarded the plane in silence, I sat looking out the window at the airport.

"Attention all passengers, the plane is set to depart in five minutes, please buckle your seatbelts and make sure you are secure in your seat for the rest of the flight."

I buckled my seatbelt, but I couldn't do it. Every part of me wanted to get off the plane.

I felt the plane rumble as the engine started and got ready for takeoff.

Run, Dawn. Get off the plane.

Said my heart.

Stay on the plane.

Said my head.

But the heart wants what it wants...
