Xavier knocked on the door, rocking back and forth as he waited for the monochrome girl to greet him. He was a little worried that she would suddenly change her mind, or decide to callously ignore him the entire time he was there. The lock clicked, and there she stood, in her usual black and white clothes. She had on a checkered sweater, along with black pants and her black platform boots, with her usual blank expression. But part of him could have sworn her eyes glistened a little as she looked at him.

"Hey, Wens! Merry Christmas!" He smiled down at her, and she turned around as she held the door for him, offering a small smile as she did so. Well, that was better than nothing he thought.

"It's sad to see how many people fake a smile for a holiday about a man in a big red suit sneaking into your home. That's why I always ensure the fire in the fireplace is extra threatening on Christmas," she smirked, and he laughed as he observed the dark room. The dark, mahogany walls gave a very rustic feel to the room and the warm, woody smell that accompanied it. The fireplace was crackling from the other room, beckoning them closer to feel the warmth it gave off.

"I can tell someone enjoys the holidays."

She looked at the box he was holding, taking a small step toward him as she eyed the box, and he looked down at her as he pulled the box away. She slightly blushed as she stepped back, grateful for the darker room that hid the rosy tint that now shaded her cheeks. She cursed herself for being so mindless as to allow herself to get distracted.

"Hey, this is for later," he chuckled, and she looked up at him with wide eyes.

"I didn't expect a gift from you, Xavier," she whispered, watching as the warm smile spread across his face. It made her stomach feel...strange, as if tiny bats fluttered around, beating themselves to death against her stomach.

"C'mon, show me where the tree is so I can set it down, then maybe we can do some holiday festivities! How about that?"

Rolling her eyes, she led him into the main living room, where a tall, dark green spruce tree was decorated with dark crimson red and black ornaments, ones you might even associate with Halloween. He quickly went and set the box under the tree, opening it to check on the gift, before gently placing the lid back on, turning and looking at her as she watched on.

He rubbed the back of his neck, nervously chuckling before he clasped his hands together, and she watched him look around once more.

It was new, foreign almost having a friend over. Well, Xavier was more than that, she knew, but for simplicity's sake, she would use the term friend. It wasn't entirely wrong, he was still her friend, but there was definitely more between them than normal friends would have between each other.

"Well, how about we sit and maybe talk," he offered, looking around at the room once more before meeting her eyes.

"Fine."

She led them to a small black couch, one that sat near the fireplace, facing the tree. They sat at opposite ends, and he twiddled his thumb before looking over at her, her eyes already glancing over at him as he cleared his throat.

"How has your week been so far? I'm sure you aren't a fan of all the cheeriness, but being back home must be nice, right?"

She nodded, frowning before gesturing to the grand home.

"My parents are away, and Pugsley went to a friend's home for the holidays. I just figured that perhaps... you might have wanted to spend them together?"
