"I find it rather intriguing that you withheld this information from me for so long. Why did you feel the impulsive need to tell me now?" Wednesday asked suspiciously, eyeing the grassy plains that flew by them as they drove. It was like a sea of rolling, bright waves of this tall, yellow grass, and it almost made her question her sanity as to when it would end.
The hints of gold streaking across the sky, mixed with the deep blue of the sky, were not for obvious reasons not something she cared to admire in detail, but sadly it was the only other thing to focus on when his horrendous music was playing.
Jazz was not something she...found herself willingly listening to.
A barbwire fence began cutting through the maze of golden stalks, and she noticed that they were finally coming upon some property, and soon a large, red-bricked estate came into view. It was ridiculous for such a building to exist on the brink of dust and prairies, but that wasn't something she would waste time pondering.
"Alright Weds, this is it," Xavier stated with a smile, and he gave her knee a quick squeeze before climbing out of the car, walking back to the trunk as she sat a moment longer. The feeling of his hand on her knee left a tingling sensation on her skin, and she felt heat rise to her cheeks as she shook it away.
With one final glimpse out the window and up toward the house, she frowned as she climbed out after her 'friend,' as Enid considered it, though she was quite sure they were just friends...
"Weds, you comin'?"
"No, Xavier. I plan on standing here for the entire weekend we are here," the noirette chided, and the boy rolled his eyes at her as he held both their bags in his hands.
"Well, I'm sure the coyotes would be delighted to hear that," Xavier gleefully remarked, and he began marching up the grass path to the front of the house, and she almost questioned whether it would be more thrilling to sleep outside, but she came to her sense and quickly caught up to the artist, who for the record was much taller than her.
It was Noonday, according to her phone, and she was already praying on her dead scorpion's soul that this weekend wouldn't feel like an eternity in hell. She was cursed with an unwavering... affection for the boy who walked at her side now, and she wasn't quite sure if he would ever feel the same way.
He glanced over at the girl, his eyes scanning her solemn expression with care as they made their way swiftly up the porch steps, having made it to the nicer, more presentable side of the house. Wednesday always had this...spell over him, like if he dared to admire her he might be stuck doing so forever.
The noirette was absolutely fascinating.
And considering she has even agreed to come to this- could there possibly be more to their future than he thought? It was quite rare for her to even show emotion at the smallest things, and even the larger ones; her family, to list one.
Suddenly she turned to him, her arms crossed as she scanned him up and down.
"Are we going to wait here until the next blue moon? If so, I have plenty I could be doing in the next 737 days than waiting-"
His hand met the harsh wooden door, knocking loudly 3 times before snatching his hand back, shooting a glare over at the girl. She returned a smug look, offering a smirk to set the look as he shook his head, letting out a low chuckle as the door creaked open, and an older couple smiled down at the two.
"Oh, Xavier! You've brought a friend!! My, how you have grown since you last visited! Which wasn't too long ago, now was it? Introduce me to your friend, don't be rude," the older woman stated loudly, and the man at her side nodded as the artist quickly dropped the bags to the floor, turning and gesturing toward the raven as he cleared his throat.
