luke was getting frustrated with salem and her short answers. he wanted to know more. no, he needed to know more.
"salem," he said calmly as she briskly walked through the park gate. her hair was completely down instead of some of it tied back.
she turned to look at him, her eyes seeming darker. "what do you want, luke?"
he gasped, taken aback at the harsh tone of her voice. she'd never been mad at him before. he didn't know what to say.
"I w-want to talk, p-properly."
salem sat on the closest bench and crossed her legs. she seemed emotionless, far different than the usual salem he knew.
"what do you want to know?"
"why do you walk through the park everyday?"
"why do you?"
luke sighed and ran his hands over his face. "that's not answering my question."
"I do it because."
"that's still not answering me, salem."
salem stood quietly, heading toward the gate. luke walked beside her, wanting his answers before she left again.
he reached for her wrist, her skin like ice beneath his. salem snatched her hand away from him and moved quicker.
"I do it because this is where I died."
