on his way to the park, luke kicked pebbles and wondered what was so great about cody place. he wanted to know why salem believed in ghosts and demons. he was curious.
luke sat cross-legged under the big tree.
"don't go to cody place again," salem stood in front of luke, startling him.
he scrambled to his feet quickly, open mouthed and slightly confused.
"why? what's in there?"
"do you believe in ghosts and demons, luke?"
luke thought about his research. he stayed up until early in the morning watching ghost theories and reading exorcism stories.
"yes," he replied instantly.
a small shiver ran down his spine as her voice lowered. "are you scared of them?"
"no," he answered firmly, although a part of him was shaking out of fear.
salem shook her head and crossed her arms. luke looked down, wringing his hands together. he noticed she was standing on her toes again.
"can you do me a favor?" salem asked and luke nodded. "stop walking past the coffee shop on the corner."
he looked up from his shoes to ask why but salem was gone as families began roamed past him. he didn't even see her leave.
