they had been talking for just over a week but she was still a big mystery to him.
luke stopped at the coffee shop and bought himself a croissant. he continued to the park.
the place was desolate when he walked through the gates. he thought that was strange, it was never empty.
luke chose to sit on the bench and waited for salem. he didn't even hear the gate closing behind her.
"hey, salem."
she didn't have her arms crossed, he was wondering what was happening now. this was out of the ordinary.
"oh, luke. can you tell me where cody place is?"
"that's near my apartment, I could take you there if you want," he offered, hoping she'd say yes.
salem thought about it, she hadn't been able to get far. she couldn't possibly.
"I don't think I can."
"why?" luke was curious now.
"it's just not where I'm allowed," she answered vaguely.
he wanted to ask more but stopped himself. what was so interesting about cody place?
luke knew it was the biggest mansion in the town. he didn't know anything else about it.
"where are you allowed?"
"past the coffee shop and the park."
"that's it? where do you live?"
salem didn't answer, the gate was already closing behind her.
