some people have tried really really hard to blame me for something I didn't do but you just gotta ignore them and move on
cody place was cold in the morning. luke held his arms around his body to preserve his body heat, despite still shivering.
she wouldn't even be there until 5 but he wanted to scope the place out.
there was a broken window around the back so luke carefully climbed in, avoiding any broken glass. he kept his phone in his hands to use as a light and slowly made his way from room to room.
by midday, luke had seen the entire building twice and wondered why this place, of all places, was important. he checked each room again and again, hoping to find something, anything.
when 4pm rolled around, luke had been nestled in a corner of what appeared to be a dining room. he could hear footsteps and grew wary that salem might be approaching.
"she is not strong enough for the task," a voice that made luke's blood run cold whispered.
"she is strong. she can do it," another voice picked up.
luke pressed his back further against the wall and held his breath in hopes they wouldn't find him.
"sir, what if it fails? what if-"
"that is a risk we have to take."
he couldn't bear this anymore. his mind was spinning, his hands were clammy and most of all, he wondered where salem was.
luke stood up, clutching the wall for support. was it just him or was the room moving? he shook his head to clear his vision but nothing changed. one step and he'd be out of the dining room. one step and he could see who the voices belonged to. one step, yet he never made it that far.
