"where are you going this early, luke?"
it was after breakfast, but the thought had been in luke's mind since last night.
"I need to go to cody place."
"why are you going there? that's the biggest building south of the town hall."
"just something I need to do," luke shrugged.
"let me come with you."
"no, I have to go to the park after anyway."
luke left before he could be questioned further. he didn't want to tell him about salem.
there was nothing particularly eye catching about cody place. it looked abandoned and luke wondered why salem had asked about it.
luke continued to the park and sat down on the bench.
he didn't realize he was alone in the park until salem walked through the gates.
"hi, salem."
she didn't stop for him, she didn't even say hello. salem nodded and mumbled to herself as she kept walking.
luke thought something was strange now. the park was desolate, the park was never empty.
"I went to cody place."
salem stopped walking and turned to luke. she looked mad.
"why would you do that?"
"you asked about it yesterday," he shrugged.
luke liked the way her nose scrunched slightly when she talked. he could tell she was still mad.
"you shouldn't have done that, they'll be coming soon."
"who will?"
salem looked around to check no one was in hearing distance from her.
"do you believe in ghosts and demons, luke?"
"no," he answered instantly.
even the birds had stopped chirping and luke still wondered why the park was empty.
"you should."
that night when luke got home, he turned on his laptop and researched ghosts and demons.
