she walked past the coffee shop on the corner, never glancing at it.
salem entered the gate of the park. she remembered the colours black and blue but couldn't figure out why.
she crossed her arms and began her stroll. how did she get here? she couldn't think of what she was doing or where she had previously been.
salem walked on her toes, like she was prepared for something to chase her. maybe she was, she couldn't remember.
"good morning, salem."
she stopped walking and looked up. he looked familiar but she couldn't remember his name.
"oh... hello."
"do you need my jacket today?" he queried.
today? salem didn't think she needed his jacket. she wondered if she needed it yesterday.
it was obvious that he knew her somehow. why didn't she know him?
salem looked down at his shoes, black and blue.
"luke, right?"
he smiled and nodded.
"you remembered."
"your shoes," she pointed to them.
luke looked down and nodded.
"oh, yeah. so did you want to borrow my jacket?" he stuck his hands in the back pockets of his jeans and tilted his head to the side.
"no, that's alright."
she continued walking and brushed past him.
