"I have a confession to make since we aren't being watched now."
We were being watched? By who?
"Who? Who were watching us?" Heart asked seriously. Huminga muna si mama bago magsalita ulit.
"Our enemies."
"We have lots of enemies ma!"
"Yes we do," Mom drank water first before continuing, "but this enemy's different."
"How so?" Tanong ni Club.
"This enemy might have the means to destroy our Mafia and the empire your dad built."
"Might? So hindi kayo sigurado?"
"We don't know who this enemy is in the first place. That's why we used Diamond to lure him or her out!"
Lahat kami natahimik sa sinabi ni mama.
"So all of the misfortunes that we've had, all the problems coming our way... are all a ploy?" Kinlaro ko habang nag iisip ng malalim.
Usually, I would be mad. I mean, oo, hindi maiiwasan ang magtago ng ganitong sikreto sa pamilya lalo na kung ayaw mo silang mag alala, but, I understand where my mom's coming from.
It made me go back to me and Diamond's conversation before shit hit the fan.
"I think they're planning something Spade."
"What if, papa is out of the equation, Spade?"
"What if something happens to dad?"
"Dad is still the reigning Mafia King."
"But still, We better be ready for something. My intuition tells me that something bad is going to happen tonight."
Oh shit. Nung una pa lang nagbibigay na ng clues si Diamond sa mga susunod na mangyayari. He knew that I'd know it when the time comes... and boy did that time already came.
I was interrupted from reviewing my thoughts when I felt someone holding my hand gently, as if I was going to break anytime now. I looked at Mel and I felt my insides calm down.
Ah... my support system, my everything. I seriously don't know what I'll do without you, my love.
I intertwined our hands together and kissed the back of her hand, signifying that I was okay.
Nakinig na ako sa sinasabi ni mama.
"We needed you all to be authentic. The enemy will know if we weren't or not."
"Just answer me this mom," Heart interrupted her from explaining further, "Were you ever in a coma? Or were you just acting?"
Isang tingin lang sa amin ni mama, alam na naming ang sagot. But nevertheless, tumango pa rin siya.
"Diamond kept me updated on all the things that are happening. I heard all of you. Lalo ka na Spade! Alam mo bang muntikan nakong magising nung sinabi mo sa akin na ikakasal ka na? And with Melkaye at that! Pagkatapos nitong gulong to, magpapakasal kayo ulit!" Nag pout pa si mama na parang bata for us to get her point.
With this momentary distraction, some of the tension felt in the room were released and we all laughed at mom's complaint.
"Hindi nakakatawa. Ikaw kayang ina ng mismong ikakasal hindi nag attend, masisiyahan ka? Kung hindi lang dahil sa plano ng tatay niyo eh!"
