Screaming. Crying. Crashing. Those were the only sounds heard inside the exploded building. Heroes were still in the building, so was a certain someone. Xiao ran around the building to find those who needed help to get out, as he dodged every single harmful obstacle around. He found a few people in the back of the building and helped them out, so he decided to search more before leaving as well. He suddenly felt another presence, however what he found wasn't a citizen in danger. It was a teenage girl with brown short hair and black eyes. She had round light red checks and a strange attire.
' Must be a hero or something, judging by her unusual outfit. '
That girl was trying to get people out, too. But, as she was about to leave herself, she tripped and fell on the ground. Well, almost. She shut her eyes, ready to get damage, but all she felt was arms holding her. Confused, she opened her eyes to see a strange person. Since there was no one around, it would only make sense if he saved her.
" You alright there? "
The girl could only nod, she was too embarrassed to say anything. Her checks turned bright red at the other's action. She wouldn't lie, he looked handsome in her eyes.
Xiao put her on her feet, obviously feeling kinda uncomfortable holding a stranger like that, let alone a girl." Well, then I shall take my leave now. You should leave, too. It's dangerous here. "
Even tho the mysterious man was out of sight, the female hero couldn't stop thinking about that moment where he saved her.
She then shook her head:' Get yourself together, Ochako! He just saved you because he needed to. '
Then she looked around one last time before completely exiting the museum.
Xiao, on the other hand, heard a faint cry just before he could reach the entrance of the museum. Then, another voice exclaimed from the outside:" Someone, save my baby girl! Please! "
Before any hero could process what was happening, the adepti was already looking for the woman's child. On his way, however, he saw something strange. It was an artifact, and, of course, there were many artifacts there, it was a museum anyway. But what bothered him was the fact that the artifact itself looked awfully familiar. He picked it up and noticed a mark placed on the item. Not just a mark, but a mark he never expected to see.
" How in the name of Celestia did this get here...? "
He exclaimed as he inspected the artifact. It was indeed what he expected it to be. To his relief, the item wasn't damaged at all. He knew the artifact would be very useful for him, so he put it in his pocket. He remembered what he was actually there for, so he kept looking for the source of that cry earlier.
When he got there, he saw a child with an injured leg and teary eyes. He slowly approached her." Hey, are you alright? Do you need help? "
He knew he would be able to gain her trust and help her if he slowly reached her. That was a small lesson he learned from a certain teal haired bard.
As soon as the little girl heard his voice, she raised her head up. She nodded violently, desperate to get out and be with her mother. Xiao offered his hand, again, slowly. The child hesitated at first, but the next moment Xiao was already holding her to his chest. He sprinted out of the building, making sure the child wouldn't get injured in the process. As the child and the mother locked eyes with each other, they both exchanged tears.
