Midnight.
The time where the streets are most silent, the time where everyone is taking rest from their daily routines and responsibilities, the time where most dangerous things can happen. The poor yaksha wasn't able to sleep all night, no matter how hard he tried. His nightmares were bothering him again. This time, they were all about that moment where he was called a monster in PE class by a mere mortal girl, no more. And yet, he couldn't help but feel uneasy. Every time he closed his eyes, he would hear several voices calling him that word, one of those voices being Uraraka.
Another nightmare came crawling into his mind, and that was too much for him, to the point he woke up.
Xiao gasped really loudly as he suddenly sat up on the bed. His breath was very unsteady, his golden yellow eyes wide, as he was panting like a maniac. When he finally calmed down, he sighed and looked at the window. A beautiful starry night sky was infront of his eyes, silver moonlight peaking through the glass and into his dorm room. He got out of his bed and made his way into the bathroom. He turned on the sink and washed his face with cold water. He took a deep breath and walked out of the bathroom. He took his clothes from the closet, changed into his casual attire and exited the dormitory. When he reached the outside of the U.A school area, he slipped his hands into his pockets and took a few deep breaths. The wind was gently playing with Xiao's hair, reminding him of good times with his lover. He frowned at the thought of separation from the one who taught him how to be happy. He wished to return home one day, to be able to embrace the boy with braids.
The sound of footsteps was soon heard in the distance. He turned to see the person he expected to see the least: Bakugou. He was wearing a simple black hoodie, grey track pants and black sneakers. He had bandages on his palms. A serious expression on his face.
" Where the hell do you think you're going, extra?! "
" I'm just taking a walk, jeez. May you please be quiet? Everyone's sleeping. "
" Fine, whatever. "Bakugou took a look at the smaller's tired face and noticed bags under his eyes. Safe to say, the blonde was befuddled.
" The fuck's wrong with your face? Don't tell me you're too weak to sleep or something. "
" ... "Xiao stayed silent, staring at the floor, as Bakugou kept laughing. But when he looked at him, the laughter eventually died down. When he raised his head again, a shaky sigh escaped his lips.
" You're right, Bakugou. I've lost the sense of rest and good sleep ever since I've gotten my quirk. I'm too weak to even do anything about it. Every night, every single night, I have to deal with several nightmares just because it's a "drawnback of my absurdly powerful quirk".
And you know what's worse? That's right, I'm losing my own sense of humanity. I've already lost my sanity, but these pathetic nightmares want to tear me apart. I just wish it would all end one day, but no, it just won't. "Xiao's voice broke down as he kept venting about his constant suffering. Bakugou was very much astonished by the fact that such a powerful person on the outside could actually turn out to be weak on the inside.
Tears were threatening to fall down the teal haired boy, he was trying his best to hold them back. He knew if he cried, his classmate would find him pathetic. Instead of shouting or laughing at him, Bakugou put a hand on his shoulder. A calm expression on his face. The action caused the other to look up at him.
" Do you want to talk more about it? You know, to let it all out of your chest? "
" That...that would be good, thanks. "The two then walked to a more secluded area, where no one would interrupt them. Bakugou sat down on the bench and gestured for the other to do the same. No one said a word for a moment, mostly because they both knew Xiao needed fresh air to calm down.
