Daryl and Connie rarely held hands, as they're Connie's way of words, but when they did they enjoyed the feeling.
A walk, as it's often quite stressful being cooped up in the walls of the communities, although they get a chance of new scenery when they jump between the communities, Daryl likes to get the kids out on walks through the woods and down the roads they often don't go down.
Connie's hands are small, smooth and lined with slender fingers, they fit perfectly in the larger grasp of Daryl's hands which contrast hers with their rugged form and large build, quite similar to their difference in bodies overall.
Judith, Rj and Dog run down the concrete empty road surrounded by the woods cleared by the group, dog barks as he rushes between the children and Daryl and Connie observe from behind, the occasional word from Daryl telling them to stay close and not go to far ahead.
A brown rucksack is slung upon Connie's shoulders, settling on her back which is filled with packed lunches and water for the little family they're with to fulfil any needs they have on the walk.
Daryl listens to sounds of nature beyond the cackles of the grimes kids, the sound of the wind through the woods is shortly accompanied by the sound of a nearby creek, Daryl let's his hand slip away from Connie's who gives a look of annoyance as he does before he lifts his fingers into his mouth and whistling for the kids to pay attention to him.
"Cmon, we're stoppin for a bit!" He shouts the kids nodding and rushing back over to him and Connie, dog rushing behind, he turns to Connie, "creek, just through the woods, stoppin for some food."
"Good, I'm starving!" She signs, giving a playful smile as he leads the way through the woods, Judith and Rj taking Connie's hands to stand close.
Daryl leads them down to the Creek, putting his bag down and taking the bag off Connie, he looks at Judith and Rj who are beaming with curiosity.
"What?" Daryl says, ready to be asked questions.
"Can we go in the water?" Judith asks, Rj nodding.
Daryl looks to Connie who shrugs as if to say "your call", Daryl sighs, "take your shoes and socks off, 'ts a good thing I brought a towel."
Judith and Rj giggle with excitement, untying the laces on their boots and taking their socks off placing them in their boots, before heading in they roll the legs of their jeans up, then rush in, the water running on their legs.
Connie sits down on her coat, scooting up for Daryl to join her as Dog supervises the kids in the water, Daryl wraps his arm around Connie, her head resting on her as they watch the kids.
He senses the mother like observation Connie has watching the kids, the way she jolts when one of them slips in the water and sighs after they laugh it off, or the way she laughs as they splash water in her direction.
Was she a mother? He thinks, Although she is very caring it could be that.
As Daryl's deep in thought, he doesn't realise Connie has been staring at him, studying his face, trying to read his mind. She taps his shoulder,
What are you thinking about? She signs, him looking down at her.
You, he admits, the way ya are with the kids.. I saw your excitement when Yumiko said she was pregnant, well after ya found out.
Connie swallows, her face seems pale, you're trying to figure out my past right..?
He nods, I know you now, but we both don't really now much about each others pasts, except small bits.
