"Tae Hoon was murdered" I looked back, and it was his friend looking at me. I saw him hesitate as he spoke. His eyes were filled with pain and sorrow. He must have known something more about what happened to his friend and why he ended up dead.
"What are you saying?" the patient father asked the friend, standing up
"He was murdered," the friend repeated. I saw the men clench their fists. "three of his superiors abused him by beating him every day. That's why he ran away. he had enough"
"Shut it", one of the men yelled at him. "What proof do you have?"
"Even that doctor said it", the friend cried out, pointing straight at me, "She said that he was beaten up, and she told you as well."
"Is that true?" the father asked softly, looking at me with hope in his eyes, hoping that there might be an explanation that would give him closure about his son's death.
"Yes, there was a lot of evidence of external assault that is very common in beating up cases," I said "the fact that you said that they have been doing this every day explains the infection. The bruises never got to heal, and it caused an infection. Which just now caused organ damage and death. after the surgery, there was also evidence that he was brain dead as his eyes didn't have the light reflex or stem sign."
"she is lying", the annoying man shouted as his eyes narrowed at me and his jaw shook at how hard he was clenching his teeth.
"You can ask my fellow surgeon as well. He was there the whole time. the moment your son was admitted to the hospital, and till the moment he passed away," I said to the parents
"Can I talk to him as well? I want to confirm one last time," the father said
"Of course, follow me. I will take you to Doctor Choi," I said. I went to the reception and asked where Beomgyu was.
"I just saw him go with Doctor Jeong," the nurse replied. For some reason, that made me feel uneasy. I went to Doctor Jeong's office with the parents following me. Through the door window, Beomgyu was sitting on the desk, and Doctor Jeong was talking to him. However, Beomgyu looked like he was thinking and not listening to Doctor Jeong. I knocked on the door, which made Beomgyu look at me. I could tell that he was relieved, but also, he seemed stiff. I entered the office.
"Doctor Choi, Park Tae Hoon's parents, want to talk to you," I said. "Do you have a moment?"
Beomgyu nodded, and I let the parents enter the office. Beomgyu stood up and bowed ninety degrees before standing up straight.
"Sorry for your loss," he said as he looked down, avoiding their gaze
"Doctor Min says that my son was beaten up. Is that true?" the father asked...
Silence...
Beomgyu stayed quiet. What is this? Why isn't he saying anything? Doctor Jeong cleared his throat, and Beomgyu didn't raise his gaze.
