"Just focus on finishing quickly, so there is less time for the patient to bleed out, and you need to remove the spleen in five minutes." Doctor Park said, and I looked at Beomgyu, and at this point, he was worried. So was I. I felt my heart beating fast as my body heated up
five minutes is very little time.
I need to think fast, or else this patient will die. I started to think of all the best ways to do this surgery without having the patient bleed a lot and the fastest way to do the surgery.
"Forceps," I said. "Help me in this part, Beomgyu. We need to close all sources of bleeding with forceps, then with stitches. That way, we don't have a lot of blood."
"Then remove the spleen and then work on the liver" he completed my sentence.
"Exactly," I said, "We still have the bleeding in the lungs as well."
"Woah, even after three months, the chemistry is still there," I heard a nurse whisper. but I ignore it
"Okay, Forceps," Beomgyu said, and we started to operate. in few minutes, we finished closing the source of bleeding
"Clip," I said and started to work on the Spleen, which was quite fast.
"Let's move on to the liver," Beomgyu said, and I nodded. "Bovie"
I gave him the Bovie, and he started to work as I used the suction to remove the blood
"There is too much bleeding. It looks like his liver is severed," Beomgyu said
"Tie," I said and started to help Beomgyu. but the bleeding didn't stop
"Suture," Beomgyu said. "he keeps bleeding as I suture."
"It must be the aspirin causing the blood not to clot," I said
"It's best if we use topical hemostatic agents," Beomgyu said, and I thought about it for a bit before nodding. {Topical hemostat products include gelatin sponges, collagens, fibrin sealants, and active thrombin preparations. These agents are applied locally to stop blood flow}
"Clip", Beomgyu said, and I handed him one
"We will probably need to operate a second time on him," I said
"Seems like it", he replied, and after a few minutes, he finished the topical hemostatic agents
"Okay, let's close up the stomach, and I will do the chest tube," I said, and he nodded. Once we finished stitching up the stomach. I started working on the chest tube, and thankfully it got in without a lot of bleeding. but once it was attached and started to pour out the blood in the lungs, it was a lot in a few minutes
"How much?" Beomgyu asked
"Six hundred ml," I said
"Six hundred?" Beomgyu said in shock.
