Robyn
"YOU KISSED HIM?!?!" I whipped the phone away from my ear and rubbed it in pain. "Quit yelling- and it was on the cheek calm down."

"Still! It's finally happening! You do not understand the suffering I've had to go through hearing you drool over soda pop and now it's finally happening." Kate squealed. "Whatever Kate I gotta get ready cya later." I laughed. "Buh byeee have fun on date #2!" She said and I heard the phone click.

I ran upstairs and threw on Jean overalls a t-shirt and a brown belt. The activity we were doing today could get a little messy so I don't wanna wear anything too nice. I put my hair in a messy bun tied my converse and got ready to head out the door.

We have the day off but Parker's still in school. I knocked on the Curtis door but then remembered the door is always open. I was kinda surprised to see only
two-bit in the living room today. "Where is everyone?" I asked him.

"School, work who knows. Oh darry said when you came to check the kitchen." He said not looking away from the TV. I walked in the kictchen to see a big plate of pancakes and a note.

Hi Robyn, you're welcome to have some breakfast before you head out with soda
thanks,
-Darry

I smiled. Darry is the sweetest and always looking out for others. I did end up taking a few pancakes- darrys food is amazing I couldn't resist. Suddenly soda came out in the hallway. He was wearing some ripped old dirty jeans and shirt.

"I don't get why you wanted me to wear old clothes." "You'll see. Ready?" I said washing my plate. "Yeah let's go. Bye Two-bit." "Bye!"
Soda pulled up to the address and I got a face full of questions. "Patty's paint shop..?" "Yep!" I said jumping out of the truck.

"My mom used to take me here all the time. You can paint, have tea, or do pottery." I smiled . I opened the door and the little bell ran above it. Patty, the owner of the store, popped up behind the counter. "Robyn! How nice it is to see you!"

Patty was an elderly woman. On the shorter side, her hair was always up most likely with a paint brush in it. She has these soft brown eyes that always make you feel welcome. Patty's Like a grandma to me.

"Who do you have here today??" Patty asked glancing at sodapop who was examining the shelves of different unique pottery creations and paintings on canvases.

"This, is sodapop. He's been needing to get out of the house and I felt this was perfect." I beamed. "Fantastic! 2 isles?" She asked. "Yes." "Right this way!" Patty lead us to two isles with empty canvases ready. "Feel free to browse around for different colors- would you kids like some tea?" "Sure." I smiled and patty went off.

Soda looked concentrated paintbrush in hand staring at the empty canvas. "I- don't know what to paint." He said dumbfounded. "You can paint anything. Emotions, things around you, thing's important to you, some of the best paintings have symbolism."
I said picking up my brush and starting to paint.

I was gonna do a sunset. Soda thought for a few moments but then started. I tried peaking over but I had absolutely no idea what he was painting. "Here is your tea." Patty said handing us two mugs she probably made and painted herself. "Thank you." we both said but when soda took a drink of patty's tea, his eyes seemed to widen.

"This is the best tea I have ever had." Soda said in awe causing patty and laugh warmly. "Why thank you sweetheart! The recipes been in my family for years." Patty beamed. "Well it's really good." Soda said again taking another sip of the tea.

"What are you painting dears?" "Just a sunset." I shrugged. Soda looked up to Patty and gestured for her to bend down to his level before whispering what he was painting in her ear what I couldn't quite make out. "Hey!" I protested.

"Ahh that is quite clever sodapop. I do make a suggestion that you add-" she whispered the rest in his ear and he nodded. "I feel left out." I joked turning to my own painting. "You'll find out after." Soda smiled and we both talked, painted, and drank our tea.

"I think I'm done." I said sitting back with a satisfied sigh at my painting. I think I did really good on the palm tree. "Me too." Soda cut in. I glanced over to his painting and my mouth dropped in awe. It was a Robin.

Every stroke was smooth down to the beak of the bird and the leaves on the tree in the background. "Since when we're you an artist?! I gaped. "Eh I don't know. Do you like it?" He asked hope in his eyes. "I- I love it."

I know it was a bird and robins are a thing without my name being attached to it.. but I felt like he painted it in relating to me? "It's for you." My eyes widened. "I can't accept it- you gotta show Darry and pony I mean you deserve to take it." I said quickly. M

"Robyn- I painted it for you." He said with that stupid dreamy smile on his face. "T-thank you." I said finally accepting the beautiful art. "Sodapop! That is beautiful!" Patty said walking towards us. "Thank you." Soda gushed.

We left the paint shop and I protected that painting with my life on the ride home. "That was really fun Robyn. Who knew I'd like painting so much." "I'm glad you liked it." I smiled. "Well thank you again for the painting. I'm gonna put it on my wall." Soda seemed really happy about that.
"Bye Robyn."
"Bye soda."

Of course I couldn't hang the painting myself. What do I look like? A handyman? I waited until my mom got home for her to help me.
"There. It looks really good." She said stepping back from her work. "He must really like you." My mom teased but I was in my own daze.

"Yeah."
