Chapter 8

Tw - mentions of trafficking , blood and violence

You walked for a bit and it started to get dark . your walking became quicker and almost turned into a run due to your anxiousness of the growing night . you and the others came across a pharmacy and you and the others quickly rushed inside . Ghost wasted no time and he moved one of the shelves in front of the door to barricade it shut to make sure none of the infected got to you . soap turned on his flashlight and he looked around to see most of the things were looted but he saw a black backpack and he picked it up and handed it to you . you took the bag from him and you looked inside and it was empty but the bag could be very useful .
'' Well stay here tonight and get moving once it hits morning we start walking  again . ''
Price spoke as he slung his rifle on his back and he started looking around.
'' look around for useful shit that we can use.''
Soap said .
The others nodded and you got to looking around  .
You opened the bag and you looked around under bokeh shelves and you found a few things that could be useful for the others and something useful for you . you found some feminine hygiene pads along with painkillers , bandages and tape . you took the things and you threw them into your bag and you zipped it up and headed to Ghost .
'' I found some things . ''
You spoke while opening the bag and showing him .
He looked at the things but one of them caught his eye .
'' why you need those pad things for ?.''
He said confused while looking at them .
You sighed in embarrassment and you brushed past him leaving him confused .
'' hey i asked a question .''
He said while jogging over to you .
'' its personal .''
You spoke low .
'' are you hurt ?.''
He asked, confused and growing a little more concerned .
'' No im not hurt i got my period back at base and ive been using small ripped parts of towels to keep it from getting everywhere  .''
You said sternly towards him wishing he hadn't asked .
The other's low chatter went silent and you looked towards the other and they looked away .
You sighed a bit angrily .
'' i'll be in the back and i'm going to put it on , don't come back here .''
You said sternly while walking to the back away from him . soap walked over to Ghost and gave him an awkward look .
'' what the fuck is a period .''
Ghost said low and confused .
'' well uh , ask price cause i don't know .''
Soap said while shrugging his shoulders wanting to get off the topic and to avoid explaining it to him . Can you believe it that this dumbass doesn't know what a period is? He never  had a sister and he never bothered to ask what it was and they were just confused . You would've thought he learned this in the military or even in high school but apparently not.
You thought to yourself .
You had gone to the back and you pulled down your pants hallway and you cracked open the pack of pads . You took off your makeshift pad and you put on one of the real ones . It was way better but still a bit uncomfortable. You made sure they weren't around and you pulled your pants back up and you headed over to them . It's been about two days since you had gotten your period and shit it was bad but you hid it well .
You walked over and gave ghost an awkward look and you kept searching for things . Ghost walked over to Price and looked at him .
" I uh what's a period ?."
He asked while rubbing the back of his neck earning a hard glance from you . Shuri was the one to teach you about periods as well when you were with her. She taught you many things and those were one of them . You were very thankful for her being there helping you and caring for you almost like a mother did with her child . You spent the majority of your life in trafficking but you were with the people who saved you . The man who saved you . You walked over to ghost and you sighed telling him to sit . You and him sat on some of the rubble and you turned and looked at him . You gave him a good talking about periods going into detail and telling him everything about it . Your hands were clasped together in your lap as you looked at him once more.
" that's fuckin crazy .."
He said quietly . 
" Did you not learn  ?."
You said ,confused .
" No I'm not good at female health things like that but I do know many things about the human body."
He spoke .
" yo dumbass you know what period we learnt it in highschool did you forget ?."
Gaz spoke , his voice echoing a bit .
Jeez finally someone who knows.
You thought.
A deep oh came from ghosts mouth from realization and realizing that he knows about a period . He thought back and he did know he just didn't remember . You got up from your seat and you walked and slouched down and sat against the wall . Soap followed and they sat and made a circle . They pulled rations from their vest and you looked at them confused as to how that even fit in there. Ghost sat next to you and handed you some crackers and you took them thankfully and you ate one .
" that crazy stunt you pulled today was epic."
Soap said with a little grin .
" She's  got some iron balls , didn't even hesitate and ran up on the thing."
Price spoke as he lit a cigar.
" It was already dead technically."
You said lowly
" Most soldiers I know couldn't even get down a wall with a harness because they freaked out  but you literally ran towards something that could've killed you ."
Gaz said .
" don't do it again but if needed don't hesitate."
Ghost said sternly .
Ghost swore to himself that he wouldn't let you get killed and he would protect you with his life but he also didn't like the stunt you pulled before but he had stayed silent . You didn't even hesitate and charged at an infected . you heard rustling behind the counter in the back near the exit and all your heads snapped towards the noise . Ghost turned his flashlight to the counter and you all saw a woman . She wore a floral dress and she was dusty and dirty . She had dirty blonde hair with blue eyes .  you got your knife ready and you got into a position getting ready to lunge .
'' help me please .''
She said low and quietly .
'' stay back  .''
Soap said sternly .
'' i'm not infected i swear .''
She said in hopes of getting help .
'' she is ...''
You said quietly seeing a bite mark on her ankle .
'' i swear im not-
You wasted no time and threw your knife at her dead straight hitting her in the head killing her on the spot . you watched as she hit the floor with a thud and blood poured out of her head . you got up out of your spot and you pulled the knife out of her head and you cleaned off the blood that was on it . you sat back down next to Ghost and you earned a shocked look from the others.
'' she had a bite on her ankle .''
You said quietly .
You didn't want to do it but it was for your survival . plus she had very little time to live so you were really doing her a favor . you strapped your knife on your back and you made sure it was in reach just in case.
'' holy shit ....remind me not to get on your bad side .''
Soap spoke .
'' i see she was a born soldier .''
Price said .
'' i'll stay up tonight and keep watch alright .''
Ghost said while looking at price .
'' alright , we leave in morning .''
Price said while getting comfortable , resting his hat over his eyes .
The others got comfortable as well and said their quiet goodnights and they went to rest .
'' you going to sleep ?.''
Ghost asked while giving you a slight nudge .
'' maybe i will .''
You sighed .
'' whats on your mind ?.''
He asked.
'' i'm just missing someone i once new .''
You said in a low tone while looking out towards the exit .
'' mind if i ask who ?.''
He asked , not wanting to make you uncomfortable .
'' if i tell you this you tell no one not one soul .''
You said sternly .
'' i won't tell anyone .''
He promised .
'' Someone I once knew when I was pulled into human trafficking , her name was Shuri . She protected me while I was there and taught me many things. One day one of the traffickers tried to beat me and she protected me by trying to fight off the guard . That day was the last day I saw her ever again . i think she's still out there , i still have a bit of hope .''
You said holding back tears . you didn't like bringing up the topic much but you wanted to tell him.
'' sorry if i asked ..''
Ghost said quietly .
'' its fine dont worry okay .''
You said wiping the tears that were about to fall . you rested your head on Ghost's shoulder and closed your eyes letting out a little shaky breath .
'' thank you Ghost , for finding me and taking me in .''
You said while calling down .
'' don't mention it , you were in danger . It's what us soldiers do . we protect and keep others safe.''
He said,
'' gets some sleep okay , you need it .''
Ghost said while wrapping his free arm around you .
You nodded and after a few minutes you dozed off .
It was gonna be one hell of a journey now . between your father and this it was just too crazy but your mission is to find the radio and try to find laswell but for now you rest , being protected .
