I open my eyes, everything fuzzy. I blink to clear the camera.
"This is Hina Yaoyorozu, and it is my first test of my personal robot helper. Alright, what is your name?"
I let out a loud 6,000 Hz screech.
"Agh! Stop, stop!" Her hands are in my face, and then I see black.

I open my eyes again. Not fuzzy this time. Hina Yaoyorozu is in front of me again, wearing denim overalls with a dirty white shirt underneath.
"This is Hina Yaoyorozu, and this is the fifth test of my personal robot helper. Let's try this again. What is your name?"
Computing question... Complete!
"You are: Hina Yaoyorozu. Age: 11. Height: 4 ft. 6 in., or 137.16 cm. Weight: 58.9 lbs, or 27 kg. Blood type: A positive. You are: underweight for girls your age."
Hina Yaoyorozu sighs.
"Looks like I need to make sure she understands who and what I'm talking about."
Darkness envelops me again.

I open my eyes yet again. Hina and her overalls are covered in oil.
"Hina Yaoyorozu, test fifteen of my personal robot helper. She successfully identified herself, me, and small objects last time, but couldn't understand an order. So let's start with that. Kimi, play 'New Genesis' by Yasutaka Nakata, sung by Ado."
Searching... Found!
"Playing 'New Genesis' as sung by Ado." The music comes out of the speakers on my long-sleeved black crop-top turtle-neck.
Hina Yaoyorozu smiles as she listens to the song.
"Alright, this question is more difficult," she warns when the song finishes. "How does this song make you feel?"
"Feel? Searching for the definition of 'feel.' 'Experience (an emotion or sensation).' Searching for definition of 'emotion.' 'A natural instinctive state of mind deriving from one's circumstances, mood, or relationships with others.' Error!" Yellow warning signs appear in my vision. "This does not compute with my programing."
Hina Yaoyorozu frowns. "I guess that's the difficult part for me..." she mumbles. "How do I program or explain emotions to a robot?"
Hina Yaoyorozu steps toward me, muttering "Guess I have a ways to go before she's done," as she powers me down.

I keep my eyes closed this time, my eyebrows drawing together. This is new. I search my code, noting all the differences.
"This is Hina Yaoyorozu, and it is the twenty-third test of my personal robot helper. Kimi?"
"I'm... on." I sound unsure. I open my eyes, staring at Hina. "What did you do?"
