Wednesday pov:

"We have to get back to the woods, but Weems has been watching us like a vulture circling a carcass."

"And you want me to cover so that you can return to the scene of a crime that didn't happen?"

"I have beekeeping club this afternoon. I need you as a decoy."

"Sorry. Two strikes. I'm busy and bees totally creep me out."

I look down trying to think of another way to persuade her

"Why don't you ask Thing? Wait, you can't because he's mad at you, and Y/n probably doesn't want to help anymore after what happened. Looks like you found another thing you're good at, hurting people's feelings."

I felt my heart sink when she mentioned Y/n, I was an imbecile, if anything she deserved better than me

"They would do anything for you. Go apologize and I'll reconsider helping you."

I nod my head in defeat

Y/n pov:

I was sitting on Enid's bed talking with Thing about Wednesday

"I feel like she doesn't care if what she says hurts me, just like how she treats you like that."

I look up as I heard the squeaky door open, Speak of the devil, it was Wednesday

She gently made her way over to us and looked at Thing in an emotionless manner

"I snapped at you. I'll check my tone in the future. Now chop-chop, before all our leads turn cold."

I cross my arms at the black-haired girl and shake my head in a disapproving way

"He deserves a real apology, so don't even try to bribe him."

She gave me a subtle nod and sat on the bed between me and the hand, I felt a little nervous

"When Rowan showed me this, it confirmed my greatest fear. That I'm going to be responsible for something terrible. Not good terrible, like Ivan. Bad terrible. And I can't let that happen. That's why I need to find out the truth. Breathe a word of this to anyone and I will end you both."

I begin felt a sharp pain in my heart as Wednesday turned her body in my direction, I slowly exhaled

"Y/n, I have deep remorse for what I said to Bianca about the plant thing, if anything, anything is a step up from me. You should have better taste in friends."

I gently reach for her hands to feel her cold skin against mine

I'm in love with Wednesday, I knew she loved me even if it was difficult for her

"Wednesday, I accept your apology."

I smiled at her reassuringly

she slightly smiled back before putting her arms around my waist, holding me in a tight embrace

It was still shocking to me, she hates physical affection in any way, shape, or form

So it makes my heart rate go to a high velocity anytime she does anything like that and she knew it

"If Weems comes sniffing around, keep your distance, look grim, and don't say a word."

"Payback is going to be a bitch."

"I'd expect nothing less."

Wednesday smirked as she walked outside of the shed, I was standing next to Eugene as he was telling me more about the bees

"Blab and I will squeeze you like a honeycomb."

"Snitches get stung. It's hive code. Besides, I should be thanking you. This is the most girl I've ever had in the shed. Other than bees."

"Shocking."

While we finish up the conversation, Wednesday and I begin making our way to the woods

"Do you think something can get left behind? I heard they were very thorough"

"I don't know, but there has to be something. This investigation depends on it."

As we were searching around I felt as if someone was watching us and if on cue, we got pulled behind a tall, thick tree

We watched as we saw the sheriff and his dog walk by, not batting an eye in our direction

As he let go, Wednesday stepped in front of me slightly and started looking at Tyler in a questioning manner

"Sorry. I didn't want Elvis to pick up on your scent."

I decided to speak up as I was curious about how he was able to get them off our scent

"Thanks. How'd you throw them off?"

The tall boy then pulled a big handful of coffee grounds out of his pocket, I shrugged slightly in satisfaction

"One of the perks of being a part-time barista."

Wednesday and I started to walk around, while Tyler and Wednesday were talking about his dad, I saw a shiny object and went to investigate

I picked up the mysterious object to realize it was Rowan's shattered glasses, how did the police manage to leave this?

"Hey, Wednesday, when you guys are done chit-chatting, I found something that might be worth a look"

I look over at the black-haired girl, she seemed pleased which made my heart skip a beat

As she grabbed them her head snapped back, and before Tyler could do anything I quickly snatched her into my arms

"The same purple book. Nightshades."
