Wednesday pov:

Nevermore continues to be an enigma.

A place where the questions far outweigh the answers.

But sometimes... the answer is staring you right in the face.

Not to mention, y/n. Another unknown mystery.

A mystery I am dying to unravel just as much as Nevermore.

I take a moment to look up at the clock

'It's almost midnight, I should start heading down.'

Y/n Pov:

It felt like I'd been waiting forever, not to bring up the fact it was freezing

"Wednesday where are you..."

Just as I said that she appeared before more like a genuine in a bottle

"Missed me?"

She retorted in a deadpan voice

"I'm freezing, what took so long?"

"It just hit twelve. You should've worn a jacket."

She opened her bag and took out another jacket, a notebook, and a pencil

"Here. You're lucky I've brought an extra, I knew you would forget."

She proceeded to hand me a black jacket with long sleeves, it was huge on me

I smiled at her and made my way to the sculpture

"Thanks, anyway, we should probably look at this weird-looking statue of Edgar Allan"

Wednesday then walked next to me holding the notebook and pencil while speaking

"Don't worry, Edgar Allan. I see your sanctimonious smirk. But I will get the last laugh."

I try to hold in my laugh as she eyed the statue, I went along with it

"His penchant for riddles was legendary."

She looked back at me like she forgot I was here, all wide-eyed

"And this might be his cleverest yet."

"How so?"

She paused for a moment as she scanned the book that it was holding

"Because it's not a single riddle, Rather, each line is its own separate one."

She placed the notebook on the right side of the book while writing

"I'm gonna say the riddle, you answer it."

I nod my head

""The opposite of moon.""

"Sun."

""A world between ours.""

"Nether."

""Two months before June.""

"April."

""A self-seeding flower.""

"Pansy."

""One more than one.""

"Two."

""Its leaves weep to the ground.""

"Willow."

""It melts in the sun.""

"Ice."

""Its beginning and end never found.""

"Circle."

""Every rule has one.""

"Exception."

""The answer will give a sharp cracking sound.""

"That was too easy."

I look down at the piece of paper Wednesday was writing on

SNAP TWICE

"Huh."

We stood in front of the statue, I was expecting the black-haired girl to snap but she just stood there

"Well? Wanna do the honors?"

"Oh, okay"

I smiled a little then snapped my fingers twice

The sculpture started moving and exposed a secret stairway to a library

I beamed

"It worked!"

I take a peek at Wednesday to see a small smirk spread across her face

"Of course, it worked."

She made her way down with me following close behind her, I stopped halfway

"I'm kinda scared, it's dark. Maybe I should just wait up h-"

She then grabbed my hand gently and started leading me down

"Better?"

I was blushing hardcore, I didn't want to make it weird

"Y-yea much, thanks"

As we hit the floor in the library, Wednesday let go of my hand and started heading toward the books

I was a little saddened, after looking around for a little bit I notice the black-haired girl put a book into her bag

Before I could say anything it went pitch black

(A/N- Sorry it's been a while, I watched M3GAN and the writer's block was gone so I wrote as much as I could, I'm planning on writing more later. This book is gonna be really long. So get prepared lol anyway hope you enjoyed and thank you for reading <3)
