Howl at the moon

Chapter 8

I turned my head as the three men held their guns up. The howl came again, then a growl. I felt a heavy body come over me and i heard 3 shots. I opened my eyes to see black fur in front of me. 3 pigeons fell from the trees. The men ran. The black figure turned around and faced me. J. 

'Max told me everything.' J said out of breathe. 'I came to check on you and you were gone. I followed your scent here.' He collapsed beside me. 

'Thank you' Was all i could manage to say. He nodded and sighed heavily before standing up. I noticed he had a huge cut on his leg. ' J...your...your leg.' I stuttered. 

'Oh, yea-" He said laughing 'As i was running here i kinda got hit was a thorn bush.' I managed a smile. I stood up and J and i walked back home slowly. We made small talk through our mind messages but other than that it was quiet, until we were halfway home.

' Max, uh, what...what did he say?" I said

'He was pretty mad at himself.' J replied.

'Oh... J you need to realize that  dont-" 

' I know, you dont want Max to be your mate. But it is how it is Sam. You cant change it if its meant to be.' he said sighing. 

' I know.' I said, i felt tears in my eyes.

We got home around 3 AM, we saw Max and Caleb outside chopping wood. They both had their shirts off. Caleb barely had any abs but Max, Max had an 8 pack of steel. His abs were like heaven. Everytime we went to the beach, all the girls would fall for him. I'll admit, i did get kind of jealous. I swear he worked out 15 times a day. As J and I walked up in our wolf form, i saw Caleb turn our way and smile. Max realized it was us and just kept chopping. As we got closer he had more force on the wood, and it split in half almost immediatly. 

"Mom was worried about both of you." Caleb said as he split a piece of wood. He flipped the axe over his shoulder and store at us. I nodded and walked into the house, shifting as i got in the doorway. I wiped the stray tear that had fallen and continued into the kitchen where Aunt Nina was reading the sundays paper. 

"There you are! I was worried sick about both of you!" She said engulfing J and i in a huge hug. Her face turned pale as she looked behind me. I turned around and saw Max and Caleb in the doorway. Max still had his shirt off. As he saw me turn around his fists clenched.

"Shit" I said under my breathe. Aunt Nina guided me upstairs into my bedroom.

"I know what happened sweets." Aunt Nina said patting my arm. I put my head down and groaned.

" Aunt Nina it cant be Max." I said crying into my hands. 

" I know hunny, i know. You know what," she said lifting my head. " Who knows, it could just be a phase." I nodded. 

"I think im going to go to bed." I said smiling. "Thanks" She smiled and left the room. I sat on the edge of my bed scrolling through instagram on my phone. I heard someone come up the stairs so i looked up. A shirtless Max. He looked left and then right and took a double take, staring at me. I put my head down and i heard him come closer. 

"Max..." I said desperetly. He looked me in my eyes and hugged me. His abs were as hard as a rock, i was uncomfortable. I pulled away and held his hand. His face turned red and he stood up pulling me up with him. 

"Sam, im going away for a while." He said searching my eyes for pain. I put my head on his chest and let out a loud sob. He cooed and kissed my forehead. 

"You cant" I said into his chest. 

"I have to, its a wolf meeting." He replied putting his chin on my head. I looked him in the eyes for a hint of love, passion, regret. Nothing. Just his beautiful milky way eyes. I nodded and lead him out of my room. I shut my door behind him. I sat in bed for over an hour until i heard my window open. I felt a hand pull me up and help me to my feet. The person, which i could tell by the way his chest felt (abs as big as Max's), Held me to his chest and lifted my chin so i could see there eyes. He kissed me lightly. I pushed him away and turned on my bedside lamp. 

"What the fuck Connor!" I hissed. He came over to me and held me tightly.

"Sam, i need you, ive claimed you. And i know you want me back." He said looking at my lips. He leaned in and i pushed him back. 

"Your dillusional!" I said. His smile turned to a frown, 

" What changed your feelings?" He said hurt. All of a sudden Max barged in with a bat. He had a shirt on by now.

"Connor? What the hell..." He said confused. He looked from me to Connor and squinted his eyes.

"You see Sam isnt who i thought she was." Connor said pointing to me and then dropping his hand to his side. Max came to my side and grabbed my hand, i yanked it away and he looked at me with hurt eyes. 

"Connor, leave" I said pointing to the window. He smiled 

"Gladly" and he hopped out the window. Max looked at me and i bit my lip. 

"He kissed you.." Max said, his eyes turned black. I never have seen this side of Max. His hand turned to a fist and he punched my wall. I gasped and J, Caleb, and Jake ran into my room. Max started to breathe heavy.

"Sam, lets go out to the kitchen."  Jake said keeping an eye on Max. Jake led me to the kitchen. 

"He's obviously jealous.." Jake said giving me an eyebrow. I shrugged. I heard J and Caleb try to calm Max down. After a good 45 minutes he did. It was quiet for a little and i listened to their conversation.

"Leave today, get it over with, then you can come home. It'll be easier." Caleb said and i hear J agree. 

"But, i need to keep Sam safe." Max said.

"We'll keep an eye on her." J replied. Max sighed knowing he had no choice. An hour later he came downstair with a black duffel bag. He looked tired and worn out. He walked down the stairs. He gave Aunt Nina a hug and came over to me and hugged me super tight. I closed my eyes. 

" By cousin" I said trying hard to smile. He smiled back and walked out the door.
