Chapter 16

Sams POV

I felt really dizzy, like after you have just woken up and you get up to fast, dizzy.

" Katie-" I said, taking a step away from Max. "Its not what it looks like, i was trying to get Conn-" 

'I'm not mad! It's just awkward i walked in on this. Anyways, J, Caleb, and Jake are waiting for you guys downstairs. It's an emergency." 

I ran past Katie and jumped down the stairs to the kitchen. 

"What happened?" I yelled. Caleb started laughing and Jake hit him over the head. 

J looked at me with a depressed look. 

"Nina... well" He started.

I felt myself about to hurl. What happened?

"Nina's out at the store and we need you to make us food." J said still looking depressed. I looked at Jake and Caleb, who were trying to keep a straight face, and groaned.

'Are you for real right now J?!" I yelled. All three boys bursted into laughter. I couldnt help but smile. 

"So immature! What do you guys want?" I said walking over to the pantry. It was almost as big as a master closet. We had so much food in their, im surprised it never went old. 

"We're immature!?" Jake said joining me in the pantry. "Who's the one whos got her lips all over Connor and Max?" 

I could hear J chuckle. I reached behind me to see if i could find something to hit Jake over the head with, but he beat me to it. He grabbed my waist and lifted me over his shoulder. 

"JAKE! PUT ME DOWN!" I yelled while punching his back. I felt cool air and i knew he was taking me outside. 

"Jake.." I said crossing my arms. "Please put me down"

"No can do Sweetcheeks. Your my baby cousin and i cant let anyone hurt you." He laughed under his breathe. 

" I guess ill have to send the big guns in then." 

"You wouldnt..." Jake said, suddenly freezing. I saw Caleb running towards us laughing.

"Put her in the fire pit!" Caleb said. I smiled.

"Yeah Jake, Put me in the fire pit."

"Uh, im ok. i think im going to go inside." He set me down. Leaving Caleb speechless. 

"What was that about man?" Caleb questioned

"She's gonna call Max. Lord knows what he would do to us if we touched his 'princess'." Jake replied. Are they for real? Princess? I'm not even dating Max and he already has more than one nickname for me. 

One by one the whole family started coming out. J, then Katie, and then Auntie Nina. I guess she was home. Max came out about 5 minutes after Nina. 

"Why are you all staring at me?" I said. I was starting to get worried. I heard a loud alarm and then everything vanished.

I slammed my head on something hard and realized my chalk board had somehow fallen on top of my bed. It was all a dream. Everything from the start of Katie coming in the room. I must've fallen asleep after Connor left. I picked my chalkboard up and put it next to my closet. None of this happened. None of it. No kiss, no being put outside, no missing Aunt Nina. 

I opened my closet door and grabbed a yellow tank top that looked like it could be worn in the south, and some bleached looking jean short shorts. I walked into the bathroom and found a note. 

Went out to breakfast. Didnt want to wake you. Eggs are on the stove and theirs some toast in the toaster. - J

I ran back into my room to look at my alarm clock. It was 6:30 AM. Some early bird breakfast im guessing. I ran back into the bathroom and turned the shower on. 

15 minutes later i was fully dressed and eating breakfast. The small portible TV was on in the kitchen, switched to the news. I was salting my scrambled eggs when i heard the reporter yell breaking news. I frowned and turned the TV up

Please shut all windows and doors, i repeat, shut all windows and doors. Their have been spottings of wolves around the area. Animal control cannot do anything about them unless their on your lawn, so please, shut all windows and doors so we dont have to ruin wildlife. Bacl to Greg with sports. 

"God Dammit!" I threw the salt shaker across the kitchen, sending little tiny pieces everywhere. 

"Shit" I hissed. I grabbed a dust pan and a broom and started picking them up. I heard the garage door open. I stood up to go and see who it was. 

When i entered the garage i saw Katie standing there. 

"You heard?" She said.

"Yea, so fucking stupid" I said, leaning against the door frame. Katie closed her eyes.

"Language Missy." 

"Sorry. I'm just so mad." 

"I think we all are. Your aunt called me from her work. She wanted me to come stay with you until the boys get back."

"Thanks" I said motioning for her to come inside. When we entered, i had forgotten i had thrown the salt shaker. I stepped on a piece of glass and fell to the ground.

"Holy shit!" Katie yelled. My blood was forming a puddle around me. Katie frantically looked for the house phone and eventually used her cell. 

'911 whats your emergency?" i heard a woman say on the other end.

"Katie!! " I yelled. I shook my head no. Katie closed her eyes and clenched her fists.

"I'm sorry, i sort of panicked. The injury is minor. I;m very sorry" Katie said, and hung up.

"I'm fine. I just need to get the glass out and bandage my foot. Can you help me get to the bathtub?" I said trying to stand up.

"Sam-" Katie started but didnt end up finishing. 

I hopped up the stairs to the bathtub and sat in it. Katie grabbed me the emergency kit and tweezers. I gently held the tweezers in my hand and attempted to pull the glass out. It was pretty big. I bit my lip. Katie looked away.

"Sam, im going to clean up the mess before anyone gets home." i nodded before trying to pull on the glass again.

20 minutes later, the kitchen was spotless and the glass was out. I was still in the bathroom fixing my foot when i heard the front door open. Katie and i looked at eachother in complete horror. I heard heavy footsteps coming up the stairs and before i knew it, J, Jake, Caleb, and Max were all standing in the doorway.

"Somebody got their period early." Caleb said, earning a laugh from Jake and an elbow to the gut from J. 

"I'm gone for 5 fucking hours and this happens." J yells, running his hand through his hair. 

"You shouldnt be talking J. You guys were on the news, people are hunting you down. 'Theres wolves on the loose! Lock your windows! Shut your doors!' you guys couldve been killed. On the other hand, Sam's almost passed out here due to so much blood lose so could someone please help me. 

"Why didnt you call a hospital" Max asked.

"I did but Sam made me hang up. She didnt want anyone knowing anything about the wolves. At least shes careful." Katie said.

I felt myself  fighting to keep my eyes open. I couldnt hear anything. All i felt was Katies hand in mine. I finally gave in and let my eyes close.
