I got up early the next morning to make breakfast for everyone. I made pancakes, scrambled eggs, and toast. I secretly put liver into the pancake mix. Just as everyone was coming downstairs I set all the food out. Aunt Nina walked down with max on her heels. Basically shoving her down the stairs.
"Sam! I could smell this all the way upstairs!" He said.
"Your a wolf Max..." I said.
"No dip." He said putting 3 pancakes into his plate. I giggled at how much liver would be in his system.
"Your fur'll look healthy tomorrow!" I said turning away to smile. Caleb and Jake woke up 5 minutes after Max and J was last. He smiled at all the food.
"Special occasion Mom?" He said patting her shoulder gently.
"Ask Sam, she made all this unhealthy stuff."Aunt Nina said winking at me. I giggled and placed my tea on the counter.
"Max we have to go." I said. He groaned and grabbed his bag. We raced out to his car. We drove the 15 minutes to school and raced inside.

Lunch came super fast. Max wasn't at his locker so I walked down to the cafeteria. I saw Mac with a group of boys so I walked over. On the way, I passed the group of snotty girls.
"Hey Sam, where's your little boyfriend." She said cockily. I stopped and looked at her for a moment. Mac saw me and ran over and pulled me to her table. I sat down.
"What a bitch." I said. Mac stared at me.
"Your eyes. They're... They're black!" She said in aw. I didn't notice who was around me until somebody touched my hand. I looked up and saw Max.
"Max, I was waiting for you by your locker." I said. I was pretty pissed. He was supposed to be guarding me. Not just as a wolf, but as a human being too.
"Sorry Sam, I got caught up." He said smiling. My eyes narrowed on him and I could feel myself shifting.
"Shit" I whispered under my breathe. I closed my eyes. I felt myself becoming human again. I opened my eyes and saw Connor was also at the table. E smiled at me.
"Guys you'll never guess what I saw last night!" He said quietly. They all chorused in what's.
"The white wolf!" He said. Everyone was awed. Except Max and I. I grabbed my lunch and threw it on the ground and ran out of the lunch room.
'He promised' my head screamed at me 'he promised'. I ran to my locker and grabbed my bag. I got outside and immediately ran to the woods. A car beeped as I ran in front of it. I shifted as I met the soft grass floor of the forest. I howled as loud as I could. I ripped dirt as I ran. I wanted to tear everything apart. I stopped halfway home and buried my paws into the soft grass. I panted loudly.
"Why!? Mom! Dad! I need you!" I howled.
"Where are you..." I whispered in my head. I fell over onto my side and laid there for over an hour. I heard people screaming my name. I got up and ran towards the house. I ran and ran until I reached the driveway. I plunged into the front door leaving huge muddy footprints onto the ground. Aunt Nina screamed my name as I fell onto my bed. I heard J come inside from being out back and Caleb come from his room as aunt Nina climbed up the stairs. They all stood in my door way, anger in their eyes. I started to whimper, which turned into crying as I slowly shifted from wolf to human. I crumpled into a ball and cried. Aunt Nina came and held me to her chest. J came up to me and hugged me while Caleb just stood in the doorway, not knowing what he should do.
"What happened Sam?" My aunt said slowly.
" Max didn't protect me." I said. J growled. My aunt hugged me even tighter to her chest. "He left without me for lunch and then when I was getting teased, he didn't even help. He's supposed to be with me 24/7. I feel safe with him. I need my cousin near me." I said. Aunt Nina and J looked at eachother.
"Sweety," Aunt Nina said " Max isn't your real cousin. He's just a friend. We found him in the woods when he was just a month old. His mother left him. We just called him your cousin because it was easier" she said. J sighed as I took it all in.
"Wait you mean..." My aunt nodded.
"No! He can't! I don't want him to...." I slowly drifted off.
"Max cannot be becoming my mate!" I said. Caleb gasped and almost fell over.
"Aunty He thinks were cousins, he doesn't know he's not really a Quinn. Please, I don't want him. Not my best friend." I said curling up to J. His rock hard abs made it hard for me to be comfortable. I cried until I heard the kitchen door slide open and loud footsteps come upstairs. I peeked my eyes open and saw Max I his wolf form come upstairs. He turned my way and took a double take. He walked slowly toward me. I turned my head away. J picked me up bridal style and put me in bed comfortably.
"Max, we need to have a word." J said.
"No," I said quickly. " Max, can you sleep with me, in wolf form?" I said shyly. He nodded and laid curled around my body.
His warmth sending tingles through my fingers. I played with his tail until I fell asleep.
------
I woke up to cold air. My bedroom door was open and was letting in a draft. Max left and I could hear people talking downstairs.
"Max, I know it's a lot to take in but, Sam is meant to be your mate. We've
Known since you guys first met as pups." I heard max sigh.
"What if she denies me?" He said.
"The you can find another mate." J said. I heard Max sigh again. I could hear him shifting. His loud footprints came upstairs. He walked into my room in his wolf form again. I quickly closed my eyes as he wrapped himself around me.
"I love you Max." I said before I fell asleep again.
