"I can't." I mumbles into Max's lips.
I opened my eyes. Max's eyes were still closed. I tapped gently on his chest but he didn't pull away.
"Max!" I yelled pulling away.
"What's wrong?" He said looking hurt.
"I.... I'm dating Connor." I said looking at my feet. I couldn't look him in the eyes.
When there was no response. I finished. "At first I thought you were dating Katie, I was jealous. I went out with Connor and we kissed. That's when I knew I like him. I wanted to be his mate. Max, I'm so sorry. I don't mean to hurt you. But I was dying inside. I loved you and you went off with Katie. I'm so sorry." I said running my fingers through my dark brown hair. I held my tears back and looked him in the eyes.
"You killed me." I said firmly. His eyes lost the sparkle and he pulled me into a tight embrace.
"I'm sorry too. Your an amazing girl, I don't deserve you." He said, sadness in his voice.
He let go of me and walked out of the room. I smiled slightly. I'd get to see Connor in a little.
*3 days later*
I walked into the kitchen in a green tank too and bleached jean shorts. Connor was coming to pick me up for school. Max had taken the Connor thing well. I was worried he'd have a meltdown like he normally does.
I snapped out of my trance as Connor beeped the horn outside.
"Bye J! Bye Auntie! Bye Jacob! Bye Max! Bye Caleb!" I yelled as I ran outside. It was a beautiful day outside. Connor and I planned to have a picnic in the woods for lunch. I hopped into the car.
"Hey" Connor said grabbing my hand.
"Hello" I said kissing his cheek. He blushed and pulled out of our tan graveled drive.
"What'cha got planned for the picnic?" I said.
"I went hunting last night and got a deer. I made it into little sandwiches." He replied smirking.
"EW!" I yelled. "Not for lunch!" He chuckled.
"Of course not babe. I made turkey sandwiches." I smiled as we pulled into the school parking lot.
--------
Connor and I walked out the front doors during our lunch period. We walked hand in hand across the street to the woods. When we reached our spot to sit, I set down the blanket. I sat down next to Connor a d set my head on his shoulder. I thought he was pulling the food out of the basket until he pulled out a black box with a heart on the front. My eyes opened wide as he handed me it.
"Oh Connor." I said gasping as I opened the box.
There was a necklace in the box. The necklace had an outline of a wolf and on the inside of the wolf it had S+C . I teared up as I looked him in the eyes.
"I love it." I said. I pulled him towards me and kissed him. I don't know how long we kissed until his stomach growled. I pulled away and giggled. He helped me put my necklace on and we finished eating.
