That night, Max came home late. I was in my room reading a Shakespeare book and I heard him barge into the house. I wrote a note saying I would be back later and I hopped out the window. I shifted and ran straight to the mountains. As I ran I was thinking about everything in my life that had happened. I didn't realize that there was a cliff. I felt my self fall. I grabbed onto whatever I could. I tried climbing up but I couldn't. I howled. No body came. I don't know how long I'd been hanging there. I heard footsteps. Then I was being lifted up by my neck. I yipped.

"What the hell!" I said

I stared at the wolf. It was Max. He stared at me. I didn't want to move. My white fur was covered with Blake soot. Max stepped toward me and rubbed up against me. I let out a squeal. There was a huge cut on my side. Max pushed me forward and we walked home in silence.

When we reached the house I shifted and walked downstairs into the basement.

"Where is everyone?" I asked My aunt.

"Went out to find you." They heard your howl. Why'd you leave Sam? Why?" I shrugged.

"Auntie I'm in lots of pain. Love is so stupid. I can't do anything anymore. I'm empty." She nodded.

"We'll then you best go to bed." I nodded and headed upstairs. I took a shower and headed into my room. I dried off and looked into my mirror to find Connor standing behind me. I gasped and turned around.

"I'm sorry." He said stepping toward me.

"Connor..." Was all I could say. He touched my arm and I pushed him away.

"Get out." I said shaking with fear.

"But Sam-"

"Out" he slowly walked toward the window as Max walked into my room.

"What the hell is he doing here?" Max said huskily.

"He invited himself in." I said.
