HEY GUYS!!! This is my first story that I've written and posted! My computer was acting a little wacky so it took a while... Enjoy! The silence of the barrack halls was broken by the sound of distressed groans.
"I told you trying to pull the file into the thumb drive to open it wouldn't work." Sam stated, rolling her eyes and continuing to lean against the wall of their home room.
"I don't understand." Jade contemplated, tapping her pointer finger on her chin. She was sitting on the bed and watching her older friends attempt to open a file with the help of all of them. But nothing seemed to be working. Sam pursed her lips and tried to figure out a way to open the files."It's like the institute is trying to hide something." Carmen concluded with a grimace.
"If that's the goal, why's it under our history portfolios? They're always hiding something. That much we know." Adrian ranted, motioning towards the screen of their laptop. "Maybe we can't get to it because we don't have a desktop?" Jade questioned silently, from her new position of being sprawled over the edge of the bed. No one had seen Jade get there in such a short time span but after twelve years, the girls had gotten a little used to her speed.
"Eh, don't think so. But, Mrs. Aiden may wanna clear the desk 'cause her 'love' is coming." Sam mocked, sneering at Adrian. The two held a glare that made their commanders glower laughable. Jade and Carmen exchanged quick uneasy glances. However, the glare had only lasted a brief moment before Adrian put the files into a folder that connected to the thumb drive then shut down the laptop.
Carmen closed the laptop, and tossed it to Jade for her to catch so she could tuck it under the pillow near her.
While Carmen sprinted to the bathroom to get her hairbrush, Jade took the thumb drive and put it in her back pocket of her cargo pants.
Sam calmly took out her phone and began to play her playlist on a reasonable volume.
Adrian hit the floor and began to do her push-ups.
Carmen made her way back to the home room to sit next to Jade, who was looking for her ball to fiddle with, Sam slipped on her boxing gloves.
Jade found her ball and tossed it in the air.
Carmen stepped over Adrian as she went down for her twenty-fifth push-up, sat beside Jade, and brushed her hair as Sam beat the punching bag that was near the corner of their room. "Ugly says 'Attention'." Sam said with a smirk. Then, to no one's surprise, the front door swung open to show Aiden standing before them in the doorway. "Attention!" He ordered with a loud yet low voice. The soldiers all stood in front of their commander in parade rest, killing any chance of a smile and respectfully averted their gaze to the ground.
"As you were, ladies." Aiden said after a few moments. Adrian lifted her head and relaxed her position with her friends doing the same. She stared at Aiden's green-blue eyes, emotionless. Before she could think about it, she noticed her fists clenching and unclenching, her body eager to punch him as hard as she could in his gut. The commander gave them all a grin that used to take Adrian's breath away.
"I hope you all understand that my being here at such a late hour would mean I have to present some news... Exciting even." No one said anything. No one moved. Aiden let out a loud laugh that made Adrian's ears ring.
"I love how serious you made your comrades, babe." He flirted, winking at her. She snarled lowly and finally spoke.
"What's the news?" She asked, glaring. Jade shuffled slightly, her tail twitching.
"Ah, yes. I believe you are aware of The Shredder?" The name sent chills down Adrian's spine. She sensed her friends tense beside her. Carmen's ears twitched. Sam's eyes focused then clouded with no emotion. Aiden laughed again.
"He wants you four for a mission. Quite important if he chooses you...'successful projects'."
"Why would he choose us?"Carmen asked. Aiden jeered and glared at Carmen.
They had a rivalry between them. In training when it came down to her going to destroy something, she would pull back. She disliked the fact that she was being trained to be a mercenary.
"Don't question me." He spat, slapping her. Everyone bustled. No one did anything. Carmen took the slap and bit her lip. Adrian's fury fueled inside of her, burning every nerve until she was nearly sweating.
"Anyways, " He continued, clearing his throat and relaxing his body.
"You four are to leave at dusk. You will be locating the infamous targets everyone has been talking about." Adrian instantly understood the meaning of 'infamous targets'. Although, no one had ever talked about it in front of her or her friends.
The Turtles?
They were to find The Turtles?
Adrian felt a swarm of giddiness rush through her before she stomped it back down and listened to their mission. "They're located in New York City. We've gotten clues that they seem to stay somewhere near the docks." Aiden tapped something into his watch and showed the girls a hologram of information and files on their profound mission from The Shredder himself. "You will need to find the targets location and follow original protocol when you have found their hiding spot. The protocol will thus alert us of where you are and you will be taken back to the barracks after your mission is successfully complete. I don't want any flaws. This mission is in and out." Aiden switched a picture to four figures standing in different positions on a rooftop.
One was leaning against a pole that connected to a water tower, with the tail of his mask flailing in the wind just like the rest of the figures. He had looked short but stocky.
Another figure, tallest and slightly scrawny of them all it appeared, was conversing with another short, slightly built, figure, however still wasn't as short as the stocky one.
Then finally the last figure looked as if it was searching the streets for anything out of the ordinary. He was the second tallest with a physique almost like the shortest, except a little less muscular.
Adrian's mind was clouded with thoughts.
Was 'The Turtles' a stage name or were they mutated like they had been?
She had heard Aiden talk about their attacks before. They had gotten The Chris Bradford mutated into a dog, mutated a common thief into a weed-monster-thing, and survived the new foot-bots that could mimic peoples style of fighting.
Adrian was quite impressed with how much trouble they got away with.
Even if they were the ones who were to be infiltrated of where they live. "Alright, Ladies. Goodnight. Pack light, nothing too heavy." Aiden said before slamming the door behind him. Adrian noticed that the song on Sam's phone shut off automatically when Aiden entered the room. Jade looked at Carmen and sighed. She took Carmen to the bathroom to help the red mark that was left on her cheek. When Adrian and Sam were left alone, Adrian glanced at Sam. "How'd you program it to do that?" Adrian asked, referring to the phones mute during the conversation with Aiden.
"Got the phone to scan the sound around the room and mute itself when it hears The Demons voice." Adrian pondered on this.
"Well, how'd you get the voice recognition?"
"Aiden already talks a lot. Just took the phone to lunch one afternoon and bam! Of course the idea came from Carmen... and Jade helped to get the phone to record the voice and get it to shut off." Adrian chuckled
"What would you do without us?" Sam rolled her eyes then smiled at her phone. A rare occasion of a genuine smile for the girls.
"Jarvis, drop my needle!" Sam cheered. Carmen laughed from the bathroom and Adrian could practically hear the smirk on Jade's face. She shook her head and pressed the bridge of her nose. An upbeat song began to play and Sam laughed. "I'm thinking you got it to do that too?" Jade asked from the bathroom.
"I like Ironman, ok? Don't judge. He's amazing." Sam said with a smile. Adrian scoffed. "Everyone knows Spidey is the best!"
"Spider-Man? Please. Cap's the best ever." Jade countered.
"You guys are all wrong! We all know who gets the reward for best marvel character."
Everyone looked at Carmen who was now walking beside Jade and making her way to her bed.
"And that's Deadpool." The girls all groaned and mumbled to themselves. "He's not even a hero."
"Correction, genius, Anti-Hero."
"I could've sworn we were talking about the best looking hero?" All three of them said over each other. The lights switched off, the music turned down, and everyone was snuggled underneath their covers restlessly.
"Night!" They all said in unison. Adrian rustled underneath her covers and bit her lip when everyone was asleep, trying to fight her thoughts.
Thinking.
Thinking about how they had no family.
How they trained and trained for no good purpose, how it was hard for any of them to believe that they were born to kill.
Mutated to kill.
What was even worse was that, deep down, Adrian was beginning to enjoy her training to kill. And she would put her training to the test to demolish The Turtles.
