Chapter 5: Rising Stars

It has been a few days since Homecoming as Carter is walking to school with his headphones on. When he gets there, a crowd of people surrounds him asking for his autograph or to get a picture with him. After he walked through the crowd, he spotted Sicily and the others standing by his locker, "Hey guys." he said as he got to his locker. "Let me guess. You also got involved with the crowd of people?" Michael asked. "What do you mean by 'also'?" Carter asked as he opened his locker, only to have a pile of envelopes fall out of it. "Well apparently someone filmed us at Homecoming and posted it on YouTube and it got over 10K views and 3K likes." Seth said as he showed Carter the video. "Oh man. That sure is a lot of people who watched it. But where did all of these come from?" Carter said as he picked up the envelopes. "Probably all of the fans that we got over the weekend. Pretty much all of us had these things in our lockers." Ryan said as he held out some more envelopes he had. "Heh, I guess. But I never would have thought that we would get this popular." Carter said after the gathered all the envelopes. "Excuse me Mr. McAlister, can I talk to you for a minute?" a man's voice said before Carter turned around to see a man in his late thirties in a black suit with a white dress shirt and a red tie with dark white hair and onyx eyes, "Principal Winters? Oh, yeah. Sure thing." he said. Carter then turned to the music club, "You guys go ahead. I'll catch up in a minute." he said. "Alright. Catch you later bro." Henry said as he and the others walked down the hallway. Carter then followed the principal to an empty hallway, "So what do you want to talk to me about sir? Am I in trouble?" he asked. "Oh heavens no. I actually wanted to ask you something about the game." the principal said. "What about it?" Carter asked in curiosity. "So I was wondering if you and the music club would be interested in performing at halftime for the game." the principal said. "Wait, what? Are you serious?" Carter asked in shock. "Well of course. I mean, you did such an amazing job at the dance on Friday and the students really enjoyed you and the music club." the principal said. "Well I can't exactly speak for the whole music club but I will tell them about it during lunch." Carter said to the principal, "Very well. And you do not have to worry about playing in the game, you can just focus on rehearsing." the principal said in response. "Thank you Principal Winters." Carter said as he held his hand out before the principal shook it, "You are certainly welcome. I will inform the coach that you will not be attending practices for the next few days. You are now excused." he said before Carter left to attend his classes. As lunchtime approaches, Carter grabs his lunch before heading to the music club. As Carter got to the music club room, he saw that the principal was there, "Principal Winters? What are you doing here?" Carter asked. "Ah, Mr. McAlister. I was just telling the music club about what I asked you. I have already informed them about what I told you." Principal Winters said. "Oh, okay." Carter said before turning to the others, "So, what do you guys think? Wanna do it?" he asked them. "Yeah!" they said. "Splendid. I'll let you all decide what song you will be playing tonight. But be sure to let me know before the end of the school day today." Principal Winters said as he left the room. "Oh man! I can't believe we're going to be performing our first halftime performance for the game!" Maya exclaimed. "Yeah. Really excited about it." Seth said with excitement. "Well, looks like we have some work to do." Sicily said. "I agree. Let's not waste any time." Sara said as she made her way to the blackboard. A few seconds later, the other members sit down on the floor to discuss what song they should sing. "Alright guys, let's get to brainstorming. So does anyone have any ideas for what song we should play?" Sara asked. "Well, maybe we could play a song that pumps up the crowd." Ryan suggested. "That sounds like a great idea." Sara said before asking "But what song would be perfect?". As the club was thinking, Carter took out his phone before opening his YouTube app and started looking up songs to play before seeing one, "I think I got an idea." he said getting Sara's attention, "Then by all means say your idea." she said. "So I was thinking we could do a cover to 'We Got The Party' by Hannah Montana featuring The Jonas Brothers." Carter said as he played the video. "This may be a great song if you ask me." Seth said after listening to the song, "I agree. Plus I have an idea for what we can do with it." Ryan said shortly after. "What's your idea?" Sicily asked him. "What if we had 4 people sing the song?" Ryan suggested. "That would be a good idea, but who would sing it?" Henry asked. "I think it's fair that our lead singers do it." Michael said. "Well I'm game for it." Carter said. "Me too." Sicily said in agreement. "But who else is going to sing with us?" Maya asked. "Well, how about I sing with you guys?" Seth proposed as the others turned to him, "You can sing?" Carter asked. "Yeah I can. Though I'm not as great as Sicily." Seth said as his sister blushed a little bit. "What do you think Sara?" Henry asked the brunette girl, "I'll allow it." she said. "Alright. That just means we need one last person." Maya said. "But who?" Ryan asked. "Well, how about Sara?" Henry suggested. "I'm afraid that I'll have to decline the offer." Sara said as she crossed her arms. "Oh come on Sara, just this one time?" Seth asked his girlfriend with pleading eyes. "Do you seriously have to play the puppy eyes card?" Sara asked her boyfriend. "Well is it working?" Seth asked. "Oh, alright. I'll do it. But just this one time only." Sara said defeated. "Sweet! Thanks babe!" Seth said as he kissed Sara on the cheek before walking back to his spot. "Anyways. Let's get to rehearsing!" Sara said. "Yes ma'am!" the others said.
