Luffy and Yuna had gathered the beginning of their crew. They had recruited Nami unofficially until they got Sanji, the cook, and then Usopp, the sniper; and liar of the ship.
To recruit all of them they had to fight one of their battles. Luffy only wanted Yuna to defeat small and weak enemies currently, still overprotective of her, and he's slowly letting her fight more. Luffy is extremely worried about Yuna, always worried she's going to get seriously hurt but doesn't want to make it seem like he doesn't want her to be her person. Yuna is slowly becoming aggravated towards Luffy but isn't going to say anything about it as she knew he is just worried.
Yuna and Luffy had to rebuild the Baratie restaurant due to Luffy breaking the ceiling. Sanji was swooning over Yuna from the moment he laid eyes on her, unknowingly making Luffy very upset. Yuna, of course, was oblivious to the tension between Luffy and Sanji, happily enjoying her meal. Now: because of how Sanji acts, Luffy usually keeps Yuna around him more than before. Not letting her out of his sight if Sanji was in a different room or he couldn't see him.
When they followed Nami to her island and found out about Arlong, everyone was worried but Luffy seemed the most pissed off about it. Yuna was okay with helping her but felt immense jealousy when Luffy put his hat on Nami's head as he rarely lets Yuna have it on but she ignored it, knowing he just wanted to make his nakama feel better, pushing it to the back of her mind.
They went to a different island, meeting Usopp at his home village and helping him deal with a sudden threat before asking him to join, even though he demanded to be captain at first.
-after recap-
The crew was en route to an island called Loguetown, where Gol D. Roger was executed. Luffy bounced around the going merry, a new ship they got when helping Usopp, excited. "YuYu-Chan!" Luffy shouted in excitement, bounding over to the white-haired girl, an excited expression on his face. "Yu-Chan!" He repeated, running around in circles around her, "We get to see where Gol D. Roger was executed!" He yelled, swinging his arms around wildly.
Yuna giggled as a happy smile was on her face, "Yes, Lu-Kun, I'm very excited!" Yuna replied, grabbing him by his shoulder as they jumped around with excitement radiating off them in waves.
Luffy laughed loudly, grabbed Yunas hand, and sprints off in the direction of the going merry's head, quickly grabbing her and pulling her up with him before bringing Yuna down to sit in front of him as we waited for the island.
The crew shook their heads at our antics, already used to our behavior. Nami rubbed the bridge of her nose in annoyance as Luffy's loud shouts penetrated her head, causing a migraine. "I'm going to lose my shit." She whispered, asking Sanji for something to drink.
"Yes, Nami-Chwannnnn~" Sanji sang, twirling away in his tornado of love, doing as she asked.
Zoro groaned, our voices interrupting his sleep and causing him to get agitated, but he had a smile on his face, happy to see us so happy about this.
"ISLAND!" Luffy screamed, alerting his nakama and starting to help dock the ship. Yuna followed to help right afterward.
The makeshift teamwork let the Strawhats dock safely and quickly at Loguetown and not missing a beat, Luffy jumped off the ship, grabbed Yuna, and sprinted away. "Hey, Lu-Kun," Yuna whispered, hanging over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
Luffy chuckled, a blush slowly covering his cheeks when he felt her breath against his neck. "Yes, Yu-Chan?" He hummed.
Yuna sighed, changing her mind and deciding not to tell him, no matter how much she wanted to. "Nothing, but we passed the turn." She shrugged, directing the topic in a different direction.
Luffy huffed, deciding to ask her about it later, and turned around, going in the right direction. "Okay!" Luffy laughed, running until he could see the stand. Slightly gasping at the sight, Luffy gently put Yuna on her feet, grabbing her hand once more and yanking her up the top. He caught her effortlessly and looked around, awestruck. "This is amazing." He whispered, clutching her closer to him as he gazed.
Yuna nodded in agreement, "Yeah," She said breathlessly. "I can't believe we're standing right where Roger died," Yuna mumbled as she gently touched the wood.
Suddenly, Yuna was ripped from Luffy's grasp and thrown off the platform using her devil fruit, she was able to save herself from the fall and looked up at Luffy concerned. Buggy had trapped her best friend in a wooden pillory, a sword gleaming brightly under the sun. Luffy looked down in worry until he saw her and he smiled, "Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, Nami, Yu-Chan." Luffy called loudly, a bright smile on his face as he said the last sentence, "Sorry, I'm dead!"
Yuna refused, and as she saw Buggy bring down his sword, she lifted her hand and held it with her wind before throwing him off the platform, at the same time, lightning struck, breaking the wooden beams, and it collapsed on itself. Yuna ran to Luffy's side, grabbing his hat that had no new stitches or claw marks as she had protected it with her wind during Buggy's first attack, and pushed the rubble off her crush, quickly grabbing him by the collar as he struggled against her and walking away.
Yuna was scared. Luffy could've had his life taken just then if she hadn't intervened, and the truth socked her like a punch to her face. Yuna was weak. She needed to train, and she needed to start now. The way they were, she didn't think they would last long in the grand line, but her thoughts were interrupted when she heard a voice call for her best friend. Yuna took a glance over her shoulder before throwing Luffy on it and sprinting away. A marine chasing after them.
"Put me down, Yu-Chan!" Luffy demanded, "Let me fight!"
"No, if I can't fight all the enemies, neither can you," Yuna stated, using the wind to help her move faster. Luffy pouted, and she could feel it in the movements he made, but she didn't falter.
"He's catching up quickly!" Luffy shouted, worried about Yuna.
Smoker tried grabbing Yuna's unoccupied shoulder, only for his hand to go through it as wind replaced where the shoulder would be. Yuna quickly tried and failed to deter him by shooting, apparently weak blasts of wind in his direction. Her wind did nothing to this man, and she ran faster. He outnumbered her in strength ten to one, and it horrified her.
"My name is Captain Smoker! Surrender at once Strawhats!" Smoker yelled, grabbing his weapon and hitting Yuna in the side, instantly causing her to collapse. Luffy tried taking Smoker on as well but, was trapped within an instant, and Smoker was about to capture him when a man with an ugly green-colored robe grabbed his hand, stopping him in his attempts.
"What are you doing here?!" Smoker grunted taking a puff of his cigar as he stared at the man. A lightning bolt struck down a little ways away, allowing Yuna and Smoker to catch a glimpse of the man's face as Luffy was too busy trying to breathe.
Yuna was not waiting to find out what was going to happen and threw Luffy over her shoulder once again as an intense wind started tossing them out of Loguetown. Yuna paid no mind and used her wind to fly over to the ship before setting Luffy down.
Luffy sprang up, getting to work on the ship as Nami demanded we leave now while we can, but, Yuna quickly counted everyone before nodding and helping out.
This had been a hell of a day, and they were now on the way to the grand line.
Dear god, help us.
