Snake is alone on the couch watching a movie, when there's a knock at the door.
Snake groans, then gets up and slithers towards the door. He uses the end of his tail to coil around the doorknob, and opens the door. He looks at who it is with wide eyes. "W-wolf?"
Wolf nervously smiles at Snake. "Heh, hey buddy. Look, I know you are probably scared to be around me right now, but please! You gotta believe me man, I'm not evil anymore! At least not for the moment..." Wolf pleads.
Snake is speechless. "I... I don't know what to say. I want to believe you, but... I'm scared!"
Wolf frowns. "I know, but please just trust me okay? I need... I need your help."
Despite everything that's happened, Snake just can't say no to Wolf. "Uh... okay. What do you need?"
Wolf then turns around revealing two gunshot wounds, leaving holes in his back. His white shirt on that side has a huge red puddle on it as a result.
"Shit... okay buddy I'll get you patched up!" Snake says, practically panicking.
"Thanks Snakey, I knew I could count on you!" Wolf sighs in relief.
Snake just scoffs at this. "Please, as if I'd let my best friend die."
"Not even after everything I've done?" Wolf asks sadly.
"Wolf... you have to understand that everything that has happened hasn't been your fault." Snake says.
"Really?" Wolf asks.
"Yeah man! Let me ask you something. Did you choose to do these things?" Snake asks.
"No? Of course not!" Wolf says.
"Exactly. This isn't your fault because you never chose this. Any of it." Snake says.
Wolf just simply lays down on the couch, back against the cushion to help stop the bleeding.
"I don't even know why this is happening or what's going on... I remember literally everything I've done, and yet... I've never been in control for any of it." Wolf says, fear evident in his voice.
"We can't continue talking about this when you're bandaged up." Snake says, then hurries over to where they keep the first aid kit, and pulls out some gauze.
"What about the bullets? Don't we have to get them out? There's no exit wound." Wolf says.
"Oh, no need to worry about that. I can get those out no problem!" Snake says.
Wolf is dumbfounded by the sudden burst of confidence coming from the reptile, resulting in him being unable to respond. He just stays quiet and awaits treatment.
"Sorry buddy, but this is gonna hurt quite a bit." Snake warns.
"That's okay. I'm ready." Wolf says.
"Okay." Snake says, as he begins to poke and prod at the two bullet holes in Wolf's back, causing him to wince in pain.
"Oooowwwww! Damn that stings!" Wolf yelps.
"Sorry pal, but this needs to be done." Snake says.
"I know, I know. It's okay." Wolf reassures.
Then, after what seemed like an eternity due to pain, Snake has finished.
"Alright, all done!" Snake says, as he carries the two bloody bullets in a coiled tail to the trash and throws them out.
"Heh... how'd you do that anyway?" Wolf asks.
"Oh, we snakes have a knack for precision and grabbing things, despite the lack of limbs." Snake confidently says with a chuckle.
"I'm impressed!" Wolf says.
"You should be!" Snake jokes, causing the two to burst out laughing. However, as Wolf is laughing, he starts to feel pain.
"Hahaha- oooooowwwww. Shit... I hope I didn't get a hole in my lung..." Wolf says with worry.
"I ain't a doctor Wolf, but I think you're fine. If you had a hole in your lung I'm pretty sure you'd have trouble breathing and maybe even coughing up blood." Snake says, trying to reassure his lupine bestie.
"I... hope you're right Snakey." Wolf responds.
"When have I ever been wrong?" Snake says with a smirk, earning an eye roll from Wolf.
"Now, let's get those wounds covered! Wouldn't want you to bleed out!" Snake says.
"Heh, shit. Probably should've done that first." Wolf half-jokes.
Snake now covers up the wounds with the gauze. Luckily, it sticks and doesn't fall off.
"You think I'll need stitches?" Wolf asks.
Snake ponders for a moment. "Hmmm.... Maybe. Again, I'm no doctor, but there's a pretty good chance. However, this should do for the time being."
"How am I supposed to even get stitches? I mean, I can't just walk into a hospital! Who knows, with everything I've done, the police might even have orders to shoot me on sight for all I know!" Wolf whines, practically panicking.
However, Snake does his best to calm him down. "Wolf, it's going to be okay. We'll get through this. I know we will. Because we have to. I refuse to give up on you." The serpent is rubbing his tail against the wolf's chest in an effort to soothe him. Luckily, this seems to be working a little.
"You can just stay here. You don't need to show your face in public. We'll figure something out for the long-term, but for right now we need to focus on you getting better. Physically AND mentally." Snake says.
Wolf turns and manages a slight laugh. "Heh, you know. For someone claiming to not be a doctor, you seem pretty good at it."
Snake chuckles. "Oh, that's just because I'm old and I know things."
Wolf laughs. Then, he looks around the hideout. "Hey, where are the others?"
"Oh, they're all out window shopping together. Should be back soon though, it's been a few hours." Snake says.
"Ah, I see. I hope they don't freak out too much when they see me. Heh." Wolf chuckles nervously.
"Wolf, it's gonna be okay pal. Trust me. We're all friends. Yes, they'll be shocked initially. Hell, I was even! But all you gotta do is explain to them what you explained to me." Snake says.
"Yeah... you're right. What would I do without you?" Wolf asks with a smirk.
"Bleed to death." Snake says bluntly. They both chuckle, and simply rest together, awaiting the arrival of Webs, Shark, & Piranha.
